my car is lowered 2 inches. when i was under the car changing oil i noticed the inner sidewall of my front driver side tire has a stress crack in it. no air is leaking out or anything. the local tire shop said that the cracked happened due to my car being lowered. i've had these 215/40/17 Falken tire for about 2 years now. and i just noticed it. i'm due for some new tires soon. I'm thinking about going with Yokohama H4 215/45/17. is my car causing the problem?or are my Falken tires poor quality?

i had falkens on my car and loved them, but i did autocross on them and then the car would sit for a few weeks at a time. what happened is the tire went thru heat stress. its not the tires fault, its your driving more then likely. all tires will do this if you heat them up and let them cool fast! i see where you live and i have the same stuff almost. problem is, you cant fight it. by the way, kuhmo has a tire that is almost the same, if not better for a better price. its called the escta 712, check it out

most likely the damage was from impact .... nad it is not a common problem or caused by your car ..... heat cycling as mentioned in the previous post will not cause this either
