Some whacky stuff, huh?

Uhhh.. yeah. Let's get deep into the properties of water. The hydrogen bond (related to the 110-degree angle formed by the H-O-H molecular structure), the fact that it occupies a greater volume as a liquid than as a solid, the fact that its specific heat is so high.. so many interesting attributes that are all essential the existence of life on this planet. Fascinating indeed.

I love physics. It's amazing to me that you can define something with an equation and it work 99% of the time. Like F=ma or E=mc^2. There's all sorts of stuff like. It's just amazing. Einstein, Newton, Planck, Bohr etc... were all geniuses to be sure.

yeah, epsecially relativity and stuff.

i didnt know you could use "and stuff" while philosophizing :frog:

In contemporary America, "and stuff" is universally applicable. I think I heard W. use it in a speech just last week.

On-topic: It took some pretty revolutionary thinking to come up with the thought that mass, length and time are not constant. Light is the only constant.

Off-topic: <sarcasm>We certainly did elect a very dynamic speaker, didn't we</sarcasm>. Now Tony Blair. he's a good speaker.

Ive always enjoyed W.'s speeches......
Always good for a good laugh.
Seriously though his address to the nation after the twin towers incident was quite good. Wonder who wrote it for him....

I'm sorry, I feel really bad about making that crack now. True, even Bush's most avid supporters don't claim that he is a moving public speaker, but dammit, he is our President in a time of war, and if there is going to be disrespect thrown his way, I don't want to be the insitgator. I mock him, true, but I know that he needs our support. It's been said, but America needs to be united right now, even if it means trusting a President that many of us didn't vote for. Okay, I've said my peace.

i hate physics, but i don't hate it as much as i hate chemistry... that's why i didn't take them.... so i took biology, much easier... but i hate it too

wait a minute... i hate all subjects!! :D but math and science subjects are BY FAR the worst!

math and science are by far the best!! what are you talking about!?!

i thought that dipole crap and specific heat stuff was chemistry.... ???

Naw, physics is grat. Science and math is great. They go by set rules....its cake! Now English, and Philosophy, you have to think for yeourslef, .....and stuff. That's what makes them hard. They suck.

i hate english and literature!! right now in english we're doing clauses and they dont make any sense!! i hope i dont have to write poems or any crap like that. i dont like history much either. why the crap do i need to know the government of the byzantine empire?? a crappy teacher doesnt help anything either. she is the absolute worst teacher!! my science and math teacher(same guy) is the coolest. he lets us use notes on our science quizzes. :D

Literature and History were my favorites, maths and physics is easy but nowhere as interesting. Some parts of it were enjoyable, like nuclear physics and optics but stuff like vectors....yawn

I WISH!!
i'm good at everything that doesn't have calculations and things like that... like business or somethin where you talk, i'm good at people skills type stuff

i hate math, i hate it soo much

Is this your driving style?

BTW, I'm in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Not all at once thank god)
We just finished with Fnet=ma the other day and now we are onto Newton's Law of Gravitation, has anyone else heard of 6.67x10 to the - 11th? That's new to me. Well, We are learing how to apply it now.

Twist
10-11-2001, 03:42 PM
6.67 blah blah is the gravitation constant of the universe. gravity really isn't constant. It depends on masses and the distance between them. For most practical purposes, though, gravity is 9.8 m/s of 32ft/s.

gang$tarr, it's no wonder you hate math and physics. Isaac Newton created calculus to be able to do physics. All the integrals, derivatives, etc... were created by that guy. Also Isaac Newton is the guy who solidified time. He gave seconds, hours and minutes the absolute value they have now. Before him, things happened at: "when the sun is there in the sky" or "the 7th hour."

oh god, calculus  i don't even want to think about it.... I don't need to take it for business type jobs right?

Hey twist, wanna teach me phsyics and calculus? I already got an understanding but I'm not feeling challenged in some aspects of Math, some I just hate like gan$tarr.

Newton... :zx11pisse I still can't believe he invented calculus to help him in physics (mechanics). And it's also amazing how all his equations can be derived in every conceivable fashion from other equations, and that those equations have equivalents in other aspects of physics (ie: electromagnetism).

Oh yeah, science is cool cuz everything is so logical and works out perfectly. It's amazing how equations can explain so much of the universe. Same thing with math. One may not like these subjects, but one can't argue how amazing they are.

Literature, eh... too much thinking and answers aren't as clear cut (despite what some profs might try to say about the correct interpretation of something).

History is also cool. It's like that cliche, fact can be stranger than fiction. This is so true with history. I love learning about all the things that has happened in the past--all the betrayels, schemes, intrigue, and anecdotes.
