Intercooler??

Hey everyone, I have a 99 civic sedan with a AEM CAI, thats all for the motor, I would like to know I can get just a intercooler and what gains of any means will my car recieve?
Please help me out .
Is anyone from NC and want to build me a turbo or supercharger holla back.

I dunno really, it might make alittle difference, but if you already have a CAI then it probaly wont be much difference. The reason it helps with a turbo is ccause the air forced out of the turbo is very hot. CAI takes nice fresh air from the outside of the car and since its pretty much colder air, i dont think a intercooler would help enough to eat to cost to have it put in.

Some might disagree, but this is just my opinion. Take that money you were going to spend on a intercooler and buy NOS or a Turbo kit....if you go turbo then intercooler would help you alot.

Hey did you notice any difference with the 4-2-1 headers and the tru power pullies. can you please explain in detail HIGHLIFE, thanks.

AHhh i got my IHE all together so i couldnt tell you truth about how just the header felt. As for the pullies...didnt really notice any difference. I got them from a friend who totalled his car before he got to put em in. I decided to throw em in to reduce parastic drag. As to feeling a difference...i didnt, but hey it was free.

what are the pullies for anyway?

The pullies replace the stock pully on your air condition and power steering. If you ever seen these oem pully they are REALLLLY heavy..the AEM ones are more then half the weight. Less drag and easier to spin than stock, supposed to free up alittle hp since its easier on the engine cause of parastic drag.

I'm pretty sure the way aftermarket pullies work is by spinning SLOWER than stock pullies, which makes them steal less power off of the crankhub. BUT I've also heard that the pullies can descrease the performance of the accessories they are on. I don't really know though. I run a high-wattage stereo system in my car and didn't want to risk draining my battery because the alternator is less effective because of the new pullies.

An innercooler is for the most part, worthless without forced induction.

aight so forget the intercooler then right. I will do without it.
so what should i get for the engine to make more HP and torque, i cant afford turbo or a supercharger for a while.

NOS kit will be the best pluck for ya buck.

How much does it cost? and when can i use it?
will it harm my engine?
how much HP will it give me?
i know very little about it, how long does a bottle last and how much is it to refill it?

2. Yes. Pretty much everything you do with forced induction either harms your engine or makes it wear out faster than intended.

Thats actually only true to a certain extent, each sys. dependant upon amount of boost ect. will wear the engine differently. Nitrous Oxide by far (when used excessively) will harm your motor the most. But with other forced induction systems there is less wear. SC's and Turbos use a compressor to force air into the engine, making it more dense to use of more oxygen. When a proportionately larger amount of fuel is added to the denser air charge, the mixture creates a much larger explosion and thus more power from the engine. Nitrous works by directly injecting Nitrous Oxide into the engine. The higher concentration of oxygen found in nitrous, in comparison to air and more fuel leads to the same effect as SC's and Turbos. Although the basic concepts are similar, each differs in their execution and wear on the motor.

Uh, hope that little physics explanation was for someone else. I'm quite familiar with how NOS and turbo's work. But thanks for the refresher!
