The one in my sig... I think only 15 were made. 50 something GTS 924s were built in total, with only a small number delivered in CS trim with 270bhp, and a 2250 lb curb weight. Fuchs wheels of course, Recaro seats of course, and bone jarring spring rates :)

Thank you, my ambition is to build a replica one of these days... Of course, I'll use a modern EFI system, and a modern turbocharger, maybe a T25 ball bearing unit.

Lovely, absolutely lovely :D

haha... its pretty clear to see how much youre in love with that car :hehehe:

Cbass
02-08-2003, 05:56 PM
Haha, how could I not be? It's got the power to weight to spank a Corvette, but more importantly, the handling to run circles around pretty much every street car in the world! :D

crayzayjay
02-09-2003, 03:54 PM
Power to weight. Your priorities are in order :D

Cbass
02-10-2003, 04:05 PM
The handling comes before the power in my books :)

It is a 924 after all :hehehe:

crayzayjay
02-11-2003, 05:24 PM
not exactly short on power though :D

That's what the project RX7 is for... 430hp, 520lbft, 2500lbs.

That's the fast car ;)

crayzayjay
02-15-2003, 01:01 PM
so are those two the only projects or is there a V12 monster truck you havent told us about yet?

Cbass
02-16-2003, 12:20 PM
Haha, sadly, no V12 monster truck...

I'm working on plans for my shop van, a Ford Aerostar... a legendary southern Californian hotrodder, Boyd Coddington, put a 3.8 liter supercharged Thunderbird engine in his Aerostar, so that's what I want to do. It would be advertisement for my business, show up at the drags, and take out most of the 12+ cars :D

Another thing I've got on the back burner is the Chevette driving school... 2000 lbs, RWD, 2.5 liter engine, worth maybe $50. I can modify the engines for maybe 150hp with next to no work in them, strip them out, and weld in a roll cage. Take them on the logging roads, and teach people how to DRIVE :hehehe:

crayzayjay

so you're gonna teach people how to drive? god help us all! :p

j/k, sounds like a fun plan :)

Cbass
02-18-2003, 02:17 PM
Hahaha, that should scare you ;)

The idea is not so much teaching people how to drive, so much as letting them get some nutty rally action done, without caring about the car.

If they crash the car, I'm out the roll cage, a chevette shell, which totals about $100 in all. Everything else is salvagable, so I'm pretty happy with that. Soon the back roads will be alive with the throaty rumble of the almighty Chevette! :hehehe:

Dude, coudl you find me a $100 'Vette? My friend and I were looking for one to do some rallying (We got big plans but don't want to ruin his good cars) and If you could track one down in Ontario, that'd be awesome.

Cbass
02-19-2003, 04:12 PM
Well, the best way to find a 'Vette is to look for them on the street, in driveways etc... with no insurance on them. That's a surefire sign they're for sale, and cheap. Some people will even pay you to get rid of them ;)

Chevette hunting has to be done locally, I'm afraid... people generally don't put $100 Chevettes in the paper or the Buy&Sell. :(

That's my 951 but FUNKDIFIED!

How many of those were made?
Sent to the US?

Not enough, sadly :(

They started building the Carrera GT in 1980, based off of the 924 Turbo. Basically a 924 Turbo with a fender flares and larger tires, an intercooler, and 210hp. The rest of the car, suspension, wheels, etc were all upgraded too... If those front fenders look familiar, it's because they were the prototype fenders for the 944.

The Carrera GTS was a more powerful version of the GT ,with a front mount intercooler, again the prototype for the 944. The GTS had 250hp in factory trim, as well as a featherweight Club Sport variant with 270hp. The easiest way to spot a GTS from a GT is the fixed headlights vs the popups.

I'm not going to get into the GTR... too many details to list ;)
