Peugeot 206 WRC complete (image intensive)

Finished the Rally New Zealand 206 last night. Just as this years teams were wrapping up the final stage of the first leg of the Monte Carlo Rally. Marcus is still on top, just as he was in NZ 2000 :D Had to put a lot of compression on these pictures to get under the 100k limit, so the reds in particular look really crappy. Is the size of these photos okay for people, not too big causing your screen margins to blow out? Some time I'll take some better shots and post them my homepage. Can't say when that will be...

At the same time I took some pictures of all three 206s I've built so far. 1999, 2000 and 2001 works cars, all slightly in different scheme to straight out of the box. What is the plural for Peugeots? I like podium :D

I think it is brilliant that you even went to the extreme of adding the roof mount camera.......did you scratch build that?

BTW......the photos blowing out the margins is worth it......your sig was just 3 images too wide, but I should have a new PC in a little bit;-) I doubt I was the only one though.....

I am going to build some absolutely box-stock now so I don't have to compete with you in the rally competition ;-)

Absolutely gorgeous models and great pictures. Size is good on my 19" monitor at 1152x864.

Pics are a little wide.

But when the quality of pic is that good then I think I can let it slide.

I've been following your build report on this kit with great interest, and the final result is an absolute knockout! This has got to be odds-on favourite to win the rally compo.

Yeah Ray the camera was built from scrap plastic.
Looking at pictures from the 2000 Rally NZ it seems that the car either had the early light covers on the front bumper and a roof camera or the later style covers and no camera. Since I had already commited to the earlier covers it seemed a camera was required! Unfortunately none of the pictures had a clear shot of the camera so the one on the model is purely fictional.

Might drop the res down to 800x600 in future. But that seems a shame when the original photos are over 2000 pixcels wide!

Was going to do something other than a rallycar for a change but with Zeljko's rally competion will probaly do another WRC.

Got a few partially started projects like a Hasegawa/Tamiya hybrid Lancer Evo IV and a Racing 43 Seat Cordoba I should probably get back to. Should also start work on the 2003 206, decals can't be far way - as well as five privateer Pugs!

The SEAT is 1/24th. Got mine from Grand Prix Miniatures Australia (http://www.grandprix.minitures.com.au/), I think MediaMix Hobby (http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/) also carry them. My kit is all metal, but they are also doing resin these days.

Perfect Job on the Pug. i love everything about it. Even if the camera is fictional it works out very very well. i cant believe the detail you put into this model. you even have a wire duct taped from the camera into the car!!! AMAZING!!! Im really looking forward to your future projects.

Sorry Olivier, just having some fun with you :p

Looks better in real life than those pictures. The compression makes the paint look rough and most of the detalis like the CF, fuel lines, helmets, etc can't even be seen. On the other hand, while much shinier IRL the paintwork is not perfect - there are a couple of small blemishes that can be seen on close inspection. Like the CF they don't show up in the pictures either.

A strange thing I've noticed is that, due to the livery and/or the raised ride height, the 2000 model appears shorter and stubbier than the 99 and 2001 models.

If you lower the picture size, you can lower the compression and show more detail. :)

I thought it was a bit strange too but that is where it seems to go in the photos I have. Admittedly they are rather poor. If anybody can show it goes elsewhere - post the pics and I'll gladly move the cable :D

I have a sneaking suspicion the car was only in this confiuration during the shakedown. I have a photo of Delecour's car with a similar camera mounted poking out of the side of the car. I guess the technicians finished wiring the camera up with Marcus in the car, recorded a few runs then pulled it off so he could get out again. Sound plausable?

Burns hasn't driven for Subaru for over a year now.....he drives for Peugeot.

Hey Guido, you were quick with your new avatar celebrating the Monte result! You a Citroen man now?

Actualy there are a couple of things wrong with the model, but no need for everybody to look for them! Alex has already picked up on one thing that didn't quite make sense. But, considering most of the model was built in the early hours of the morning or with a small child crawling in my lap, it could have been worse :toothless

And Alex you'll be pleased to hear I've fixed the position of the cable :wave:

The xsara is progressing slowly nowadays, got not all the time i want :-(

But, i already thought of it when loeb win deutschland...but too many things to fix on the interior to change my car to a 2002 version and another transkit and decal to buy to modify the body..too much money...

As far as WRC is concerned, always been a Citroen man, since the Rally Raid days. ;) My current Citroen ZX I drive is the 3rd one I own, so.

That does not conflict with my Mercedes madness though. But that's for the racetrack!

Thanks Sennake. Regarding your suggestion. I already have the decals for five multicoloured privateer 206s! White/Green, Yellow, Blue, Black and Red/White. Will have to start up a production line for them soon.
