okay I guess I'll do it. Well it was one of my close friends and we never had really got around to racing eachother, so on a whim one night we decide to go settle it once and for all. My other friend was the flagger and I had to give him my shoes since he was bitching about how cold it was outside. (we had all just gotten out of the spa so we weren't exactly dressed for the occasion). So anyways he flags, and we're off. I get a length right off the start because he spun the tires a bit through 1st. After that, I keep pulling on him a little bit and by the time he lets off I am about 2 or 2 1/2 carlengths ahead. And I did it all while wearing a wet bathing suit and a bathrobe, barefoot! Oh yeah, I think his only mods were i/e and lowpro rims and springs, he was a 5-speed.

Nice! ever take your car to the dragstrip?

street_racer_00
01-24-2003, 04:26 PM
Nope. The nearest official dragstrip is about 3 hours away, and right now I'm not in the position, financially speaking, to be driving long distances to play around.:(

All you guys should come down south, and we will all go to Gator Nationals. Only about 45 min. from me! Then after the races we'll all get smashed and screw with some UF girls!:smoka:

Nice kill. Maxima's are fairly fast cars. I know when I first got my teg a maxima owned me :( . I thought I could take him b/c my teg felt so much faster than my civic lol . Anyway nice kill.

No, I wish it was but it is a pic of a jdm integra I found on the net. I currently don't have any pics of my car maybe I will take some in a couple of days when I wash it. It looks completely stock from the outside though, it my sleeper :evillaugh

Nice kill, what mph did you shut down at?

street_racer_00
01-26-2003, 05:19 PM
I shut down at just a little over 90 mph. Hey whtteg, were you squeezing when you ran that 14.6?

whtteg
01-26-2003, 10:39 PM
Yea but my clutch was slipping a little. I was using a 55 shot b/c I first tried a 70 shot and it pretty much destroyed my clutch and i ran a 14.9 with a trap speed of 99.26 mph, then i tried droping down to help reduce clutch slippage and wheel spin and i pulled the 14.61. I hope to hit 13's this year, I am getting a clutch masters stage 3 clutch and a act chromoly flywheel in like 4 weeks. Then all i will need are some stickies.:D

fatninja19
01-27-2003, 01:15 AM
Then when you get your stickies, you'll need a new trans:)

Do you squeeze right off the line??

whtteg
01-27-2003, 09:33 AM
Kinda, I just launch at like 2500 rpms and when the wheels stop spinning I go WOT to trip the nitrous switch. I get more wheel spin though I have not had enough time to play around with it to launch correctly using the nitrous. I have played around with it on the streets, but it is so much different at the track. BTW I have heard that the LS tranny is pretty strong have you heard different fatninja19?

The LS tranny is one of the strongest. Just a couple of years ago, parts-needy Honda b-series racers were using stock LS trannies to assist in putting 400 to 600 HP to the ground.

I think I will be safe with the LS tranny! I do need a LSD though.

lsd=goooooood.....mmmmm....damn...i didn't kno the ls tranny was that strong. anyone kno how the gsr tran holds up?

whtteg
01-27-2003, 06:34 PM
I have heard of alot of racers changing a gsr tranny to a ls tranny. They say that the gsr tranny has too small of a gear ratio and it actually slows them down once they build up the motror. They say that they can turn better times with the taller ls gears. But I would think the gsr tranny should be just as strong though, but I dunno.

Ouch.. I guess I got false info from somewhere... Oops..

How come the bigger shot is harder on your clutch??? I don't get it, because you said that your n20 isn't activated untill you go WOT.. And you go WOT after you pop teh clutch right?? hrmm...

B/c it is a sudden hit of extra pwer from the motor and the clutch can't handle that much extra hp. You have to consider that the clutch has around 115,000 miles on it also, plus the other stuff i have done to the motor. The clutch is now the weak link.
Whenever you increase hp by alot the stock clutch can never hold it all.

Hrm.. But the clutch is still effected by the increase of power despite it not being engaged?

You confuse me. Why would the clutch not be engaged? Iam accelerating so the clutch would have to be engaged. Are you sure you typed that right?

Anybody ever race a turbo probe :D

-The Stig-
01-28-2003, 10:43 PM
He's thinking backwards...

FatNinja... when he says engaged it means the clutch pedal is out.. or better yet your foot is off the pedal... disengaged means your foot is on the pedal pushing the clutch in...

Remember FatNinja the clutch works by giving the transmission/wheels power by 'gripping' the flywheel... and if you just suddenly jolt that clutch with a shit load of HP like how N20 does... it'll still slip even though its completely engaged... or at least thats how I'm seeing it... (I could be wrong.. I mean I drive an Auto :D)

I hope that made a lil sense :p

They never made one. I have raced MANY Probes, and none of them ever put up what could be called a respectable fight.

Actually, the 1989-90 Probes came with a 2.2 liter turbo-charged motor. The same motor that came in the same year Mazda MX6s (basically the same car). Check this (http://www.motorcities.com/contents/00B9J362626221.html) one out. Not too shabby for a stock car (or so he says).

On another note, there is a local Probe here in town with a V6 with a custom turbo. I've never seen it run but have heard that it runs low 14's-high 13's with street tires with a very heavy sound system.

Wow! That is pretty interesting. No wonder I haven't seen any, they were only made for two years.

If you think about it, it has the same potential as your turbo LeBarons...2.2 I4;).

Yes, and odly enough, the only two good GTCs werein 1989 - 1990. Very coincidental, it is almost laughable.

actually the turbo probes were built from 89-92, i have owned 2 of them and they are a car that responds to mods very well, kinda the oppisite of the newer 93-97 prones, they have been known to actually lose power from mods.

DemonZX

Yeah the latter probe, never really stood out in the performance categories. I have raced many...none ever hung. Now, on the other hand, the older models are pretty damn fast.;)
