I guess it's a metal kit, explains a lot. Looking forward to see it finished.

But wouldn't that make this a thread for the diecast modelling forum?
Just a thought.....
BTW, what did happen to the front?

Ok, here's what i think.
It's a modified metal kit, solder was added to the car in big lumps. You then start filing away solder until you get the shape you want. He said he was still working on it, so that explains why the front bumper looks a bit odd. He has to file on it a bit more.
Anyway, let's wait and see what et_kevertje tells us.

Look closely, it's the Tamiya kit. There are no diecast Celicas in this scale. The roof pillars, headlight buckets and hood scoop give away the fact that this is the Tamiya kit-all those parts are too thin to be metal.
My guess is et_kevertje is a young modeler learning how to customize. Probably a first time for using putty. A lot of my models looked like this when I was learning how to build. And yes, I was proud of them in a way. Perfection doesn't happen on the first model, especially with this much modification. It takes guts to do it, and at least he's trying. It's hard for some guys who are starting out to stay focused on the simple things that are easy to accomplish-like building a basic kit out of the box as best as you can without modifications. Learn your paint, glue and assembly techniques first. That's the best way to learn what works and doesn't-and then advance to more challenging tasks like body conversions.
I know it's also hard for some of you to resist busting his chops, but c'mon-everyone here started somewhere, and I guarantee the results weren't pretty.

Ya, i agree with zoom zoom mx5... everyone just lay off the guy, I think that since it is only your second model though et_kevertje you problly should have gone with something more simple and not tried to go all out and customize it... But at least you will learn somthing from this experience.... and post more progress pics as you go along.
Also for doing bodykits, it may have been easier if you had used styrene sheets instead of just putty

styrene sheets are a kind of plastic sheets where you can make the car with.
you have to do a lot of work, but I think the result wil be good...
