I love this car!!...I simply cant say enough about this car...As soon as i get pictures ill be sure to post pictures...It's a black on black automatic with stock 18's, no DVD, no tail, but it does have the premium sound and the sunroof...It's automatic too. Is there any proven performance parts yet? Lets face it. Some exhaust, and some intakes just dont do much for some cars. Also Ive read that Nismo is coming to the states, so is Nismo going to supercharge these bad boys? Or Maybe Stillen? Is Nismo going to have any performance parts for the G35 Coupe? I want proven performance!

Welcome! I'm glad you enjoy your car. I've had mine since the beginning of December, DG 6MT w/ premium.

Re. performance parts...There's not much out right now. Nismo is coming, and I'd advise Nismo as it will not void your warranty if installed by the dealer. Here's what I've heard so far...
-Somebody has made an exhaust, I forget who. The stock exhaust is very efficient, so I don't think it'll do much.

-I've seen Dyno tests for a CAI, claiming 20 HP gains, but it's still a prototype, and I think 20 HP from a CAI is a bit high.

-Rumors are flying about an engine chip for the computer that could generate as much as 50 HP, though 30 seems more on line. Cost ~$1000. Seems pretty good to me.

-Supercharger is almost definately in the works from Nismo. It'll most likely be contracted out to a supercharger manufacturer, then branded Nismo. I forget the name of the company rumored to be doing it, Alpine or Alpina or something like that. No word on gains, probably 60 HP or so, cost is going to run probably upwards of $5-6,000 installed, but it won't void the warrantee, where as any other aftermarket supers/turbos would. The 3.5 V-6 in the G35 is the same as the 350Z, so I'm sure in a year or two, mods will be plenty and Nismo will have a full force over here. Until then, just be patient!

Enjoy
Nick

Congrats on the car, you got the color I want to get. Anyway Nas is correct on the S/C which will actually be called an Aquacharger and it is being developed by Alpine Development.

Check out my reply to the thread posted by Import Freak it will tell you some of the details, as I get more info on this topic I will try to update you guys here.

Good luck on the car MtnCruiser, I'm very envious but I'm gonna wait it out for the Convertible, hopefully they'll have some turbos ready for them by then as well.
Imagine G35TT Coupe Convertible dipped in black, man I can't wait.

Here's the Update I got yesterday
3.5L (V6) Nissan `02-`03 Altima/Maxima/`03 350Z/Infiniti G35/I35 Aqua-cooled Supercharger Kit

"We plan to start development of the 3.5L Aqua-cooled supercharger on a 350Z (has the lowest hood clearance) sometime near the end of February now. This kit will probably be using the Eaton MP90 (new 5th gen.) roots type blower, with the self contained aqua-cooler system, with the heat exchanger built in to the intake plenum (like our 2.7L Hyundai application). Running about only 5-lbs/psi of boost, we should be able to produce close to 60-hp gain at the wheels, hopefully without any ECU management (but can if needed)! As with the above application, we will develop a stage one, and possible stage two "official" upgrades once the kit has been CARB certified as well. If all goes as planned on this application, look for it's availability around the tail end of June, or early July `03."

]Do you think it will be sold through Infiniti? Therefore not voiding any warranties?

as i understand it all NISMO parts (this would run through nismo) do not void warranty as long as they are installed by a dealer.

in regards to the SC.. 5-6k seems steep to me for 60 hp. i'd be cautious about the impact it has on the other components of the car as well.

i used to drive a '93 VW Corrado VR6 and i put an aftermarket turbo in, bringning hp from 180 to about 350. granted, that was a huge incrase compared to this, but all sorts of things slowly started breaking.. engine mounts, injectors, gears started stripping, etc.. i often wonder if performance upgrades are worth sacrificing your car.. the idea of a manufactures warranty on it though sure sounds nice!

I doubt that Infiniti will sell any turbos at all and especially with a warranty, besides Alpine will be offering a nice warranty with both the Aquacharger and the Turbo.

I also believe that Infiniti will agree to honor the warranty that Alpine will offer eventually (because it'll help attract buyers) by still allowing their basic powertrain warranty to cover the engine and tranny.

More than likely you'll end up covered on one end or the other by either Alpine or Infiniti, so I wouldn't be too worried if I were you.

I agree on that price issue regarding the Aquacharger but the Aquacharger will use an Eaton type blower and will be cooled by water as opposed to air to air which means the blower will be more efficient and you'll probably be able to run higher boost.

Also they haven't released in hp gains on the turbo but I believe I read somewhere's in the neighborhood of 100-120 hp.

Keep in mind though that the Aquacharger will be a relatively new application so they're just going to be playing it safe for the first few months to evaluate the performance of the mod and to see how much more boost the VQ's internals will be able to stand up to.

I don't know of any agreement to have NISMO involved on this deal but they have been mentioned, my guess is though, it'll end up being one of those deals like Ford has with SVT. The only fear I have is that if NISMO gets involved, how much more expensive are things going to get seeing that they will have to share the wealth with Alpine and don't forget they will have to have parts stocked, mechanics, etc, etc.

Could get pretty expensive fast.

From what I understand, the $6000 price tag is assuming Nismo "sponsored" the Alpine blower, that is, made it "Nismo" parts, thus keeping all factory warrantees, etc. Anything that's got the manufacturer's seal of approval will cost more just to keep the warrantee. I'll gladly pay more to keep my car on the up and up with the dealer/manufacturer and their warrantees.
