Unfortunately. I started to like him lately (hated him in 99), at least he has the right idea who the best driver in F1 is. :)

Yes he does, so I guess he'll still be around for a while, maybe not racing but certainly there, with razor sharp comments on everyone :p I'd really hate to see him go, he was certainly one a the last who dared to express their own opion. Maybe Montoya could take over that role... not sure about that, but we need a "clown" among the drivers. Remeber his first race when he upset Senna a got beaten by Senna afterwards in Japan. We don't see that anymore... except for Schum in Spa 1998, but that was different.

Imagine this, it's 1994 at Suzuka, Irvine was a rookie with Jordan and knew the track well from racing in F3000. It was kind of a wet race, and Senna passed Irvine, but Irvine knew a good line in one of the curves and repassed Senna! Senna had a huge ego and wasn't about to let that go because he was embarrased by a rookie, and was showing Irvine a little senior driver "you better respect me" lesson. So after the race he had words with Irvine and punched him, that was that! It was a fun story, and it seems Irvine learned a lesson, at least he respects Schuey.:)

The part you missed was that Irvine was actually being lapped, and when he felt that Senna was too slow for him, he just unlapped himself :)
Saying Senna was furious is an understatement of the decade! :D

 I think Irvine made the right move...
But were there no blue flags back then?

It has nothing to do with blue flags! They would have showed him blue flags if he was being lapped by Senna and making it difficult for him. Truth is, as Ales put it, he thought Senna was going too slow and couldnt be bothered to follow him at that speed so he unlapped himself!
Im gonna miss the Irv, he was such a joker! and pretty quick too when he felt like it... i think Jag made a big mistake getting rid of him.
