What do you think of the boxer engine for a Skyline?

Sounds cool? I heard rumors of a flat-6 TT but they were, duh, false. It would be kinda cool though right? Maybe not on a GT-R but on another kind of Skyline.

Lower center of gravity. Better steering.

I'm not sure. But Porsches flat engines are pretty powerful. lol Well they have like 3.6 liters...

i was reading about lemans yesterday, i think i would like the skyline to have a flat 12 if it came down to it:rolleyes:

Flat twelve? That will not happen.. A TT 3L H6 is a very slight possibility. Porsche TTH6s are good for 800 to 1000 HP. I doubt it will happen though, niether Nissan or Renault have ever been interested in Boxer motors...

That would be really sweet if this was true, I'd rather see a skyline with Quad Turbo.

I donno about boxter engines in skylines, I almost think that if I wanted a porsche engine I would go to Jim Johnson Suburu (Which is 3 blocks from were I live) and buy an Impreza WRX which is a nice car and all but it only puts out about 176hp:o (or somewere around there) stock, with a single turbo that has pretty bad turbo lag, or atleast the one I have driven did. All you WRX owners out there I'm not knocking your car, I like them and would love to drive one every day but, I'd rather drive a skyline every day :p

A flat 12 or V12 would be too heavy anyway. Thats why they shy away from putting a V8 into the new GTR's I hear.

Well the new Q45's V8 is probably okay. I'd be willing to bet that it weighs less than an RB with all the turbo and intercooler plumbing.

The thing you have to think about with Nissan doing a flat-6 or flat-12 is that they don't have any experience with it. It would take a lot of work, money, trial, and error to get it right. It's just not worth it.
