pop charger or cold air? JWT for pop charger and hotshot for CAI, in my opinion

I have always wanted to ask this question....
what is the difference between a pop charger and a cold air intake?
both uses an air filter right?
which one gives more power?
the one i have got is "apparently" a CAI according to the guy who sold it to me....it did cost me a lot more than just an air filter....however it looks the same .... it .does sound a lil bit louder tho....

They look very different. A pop charger, like JWT's is a little longer than the stock air pipe. And it has a better filter at the end which allows more air into the engine. But it is in relatively the same place as the stock filter. A cold air intake is even longer, and places the air filter away from the engine so that the air is cooler. For the G20, the cold air intake pipe leads to the lower front corner of the car. It's usually about 2 to 3 times longer than the pop charger. And it is a little louder than a pop charger.

The cold air gives around 2 - 4 more horses.

da longer pipe seems to help AT cars with the low torque too. :D

id say get the cold air intake cause its not worth sending hot air into the intake.

the stillen intake is a pop charger, not a CAI. for CAI i think hotshot would be your best bet. i have the stillen intake, which is essentially the same as the jwt intake except it says stillen on it. i got a pop charger b/c i didn't want to risk hydro-lock. if you live in a place where it gets wet on the road a lot (rain, snow,etc...) then you might want to reconsider the CAI. although it will give you more hp, i didn't want to risk it. if you live in a place where very wet roads aren't a problem, i would definitly recommend a CAI.

you might want to check out the classified section here, and www.se-r.net they have a good classified section for the sr20de (our engine). i know in the G20 classified section under lots of p10 parts for sale, drockg20 has a new hotshot CAI and a pop charger for sale. this is a assuming you have a p10.

an AEM bypass valve will help with the water lock problem. I wouldn't say that it would eliminate the risk, but it's probably good enough. Only problem is that nobody makes an intake that would fit nicely with the bypass valve (you have to do some cutting). Hopefully one day i'll get my stuff set up. I'm ordering a bpv from luke now.

CAI is supposed to give around 8hp. Pop charger gets 3-4hp.

I purchased a Weapon-R Dragon for $205, and I've got a modest 6 horsepower gain from it. I looked at the Hotshot intake and chose the Weapon-R for looks, considering the 2-5 hp gains that the Hotshot might've given me aren't much anyway.

The Hotshot will yield as much or more hp as the Weapon-R.
