My car was made in Japan. I only recently figured that out; I was under the impression it was built in Ohio.

My car is a 100% American classic. Made in Baltimore, MD. I bought it in Hatsboro, PA last year.

All three are American, except the transaxles for the GTCs are German from Getrag and the Vision, I am sure has some non domestic parts in it.

Both mine and my moms car are both from japan, funny thing about my moms car though, it was in Elizabeth, NJ before coming to California in 1998, always thought that was interesting ... we purchased it in September of 2001, its a 1991 Accord EX by the way, here is a pic of her and my car

You would think that but actually it wasn't- back in the 1950's they produced this hopeless T-Bird look-a-like called the Shamrock- only one is known to still exist though.

My car was built in Normal,IL. So I guess it counts as American. :confused:

Mitsubishi is Japanese !!!! A Beetle is made in Mexico, a Voyager in Austria, etc. and these cars are still respectively German and American of course ! ;)

Yeah, that's how I feel bout' it, it's just people always correct when I say I got a Japanese car.
My motor's 100 percent American though.;)

Many cars are made with elements coming from diffrent countries but the make is from one country, it's easyer.
A Voyager with an Italian TDiesel si still American. A Citroën with a Maserati motor is still French, a Volvo with a French motor is still Swedish, etc. ;)

My PT was built in the US, my Fiat is Italian, and the Jag is, of course, British. I have a pair of German VW Bugs, and a Renault 4CV from France. I've owned cars from Japan, as well. I couldn't care less where my cars come from, and I'd never use where they came from as a reason to like or dislike a car.

It's getting harder though to tell what car is from where. The manufacturer may be German, French, Japanese, American, etc...but nowadays the cars are coming from all over the place! My buddy's 2002 Jetta Wolfsburg has parts from Slovakia, assembled in Brazil, and sold by a German manufacturer. Some Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys sold in the US have more American content and assembly than many American-manufacturer cars.

When I posted this thread I was only thinking of the natinality of the manufacturer ;)
German for VW, BMW, etc.
English for Bentley, Rover....
French for Peugeot, Bugatti......
Italian for Lancia, Alfa, Ferrari.....
American, for Dodge.......
Japanese for Nissan...... must i go on ? :D

Many of these countries manufacture exclusive versions of cars once built by other manufacturers...would these be considered as cars representing these countries (for exampla, VW Brazil and VW Mexico manufacture VW models which VW of Germany doesn't even make). Countries like Australia, China, and some eastern European nations manufacture older versions of Fiats, Peugeots, VWs, GMs, Jeeps, and others which are now exclusive to them.

Like I said...it's getting harder and harder to tell anymore!!

make simple ! Peugeot is French (even an african 505), VW German (even a brasilian Gol), etc. ;)
And many people here have well known cars (Audi, Pontiac, Citroën, Alfa, Jeep, Toyota, etc.)

Yugos are still being made and sold in what until very recently was known as Yugoslavia, I've got a "remnant" of a Yugo operating right here in the U.S.

My cars are German (German owned American brand), Japanese, and English.

Just a few points, though. Bugatti is not automatically a French brand. Ettore Bugatti's cars were built in Alsace, which was French or German, depending on the year. Romano Artioli's Bugattis (the EB110) were Italian. VW's Bugattis will be French.

I believe 2002 VW Jettas were sourced from Mexico (Puebla, to be precise).

ChrisV: PT as in PT Cruiser? It was built in Mexico (Toluca).

Dolla: I think the 1989 Firebirds were sourced from the US. As I recall, Canadian Firebirds didn't start production until the 1993 model.

Yamaha: Your Mazda transmission was sourced from Japan, I believe.

Poly: There are no North American cars (not in the past 20 years or so) that are 100% North American content. And your Vision came from Canada with North American sourced engines and transmissions.

As for the argument about the Voyager being American, no matter where it was produced, Chrysler is a division of DaimlerChrysler, making the Voyager German, wouldn't it?

I thought the Damiler-Chrysler thing was a partnership :confused:

At the beginning it was presented as a partnership, but in reallity, Mercedes owns Chrysler. ;)

It's a Turkish built Fiat Marea... to be exactly at the TOFAS (http://www.tofas.com.tr) - FIAT plants in Bursa, Turkey...
