Tamiya r32

Just received a tamiya r32 as a gift and I am having a hard time deciding if I should paint it black or white, also if I should get rims for the car or should I use the black rims, If someone has done this car please give me some ideas, also should I lower the car or keep everything stock?

I think the car looks best in black with gunmetal rims

that car looks good with pearl white paint and gun met rims!!!

Do a different colour scheme unless your going for factory colours.
If you have photoshop or any other graphic program take a pic of a Skyline and change the colour. That's what I do if I don't want to paint it with factory colours.

I think it will be stock but I think I like the black but the whits sounds good too ahhhhhh!!!.

One question, after a close inspection of the body around the tail area I see a lot of highs and lows well not noticeable unless you put it under a light and see the different shades and also if you run your finger around it. Should i putty it and sand the area or just prime it, sand it and prime again till the high and lows are gone.

Thanks for the suggestions anone got a good clean picture of the r32 so maybe I can use photoshop.

I think I will go with metalic black with 10inch aoshima equip rims and GT wing. then I will have another one white with the clear hood to display the engine and I will put it in a model case.

As to the uneven tail should I putty it or prime it then sand and prime again till the highs and lows are gone?

im thinking about doing a kit bash with a R32, it does have engine detail right?

yeap fully detailed and have an option of leaving the hood clear or paint it.

just dont paint it yellow! hahaha coz yellow is taken =D

I have the same kit. I have some custom decals of blue flames that I'm going to use on it. I'm going to paint it white. I'll probably go with white, light gunmetal, or anodized blue rims. Black and Blue interior of course. Can't wait.

Idea sounds great, only I would go for bigger rims instead of 10 inch ones. :)

Almost done with this car just waiting for a few parts to dry and assemble. Here is the body color primed and painted with metalic black 3 coats.

19 inch still waitining for them to arrive so I might have to put the normal ones first. A little scare to lower the car because I have never done it before. So we will see.

Progress Pic did not want to start another thread, Under belly of the car, The car is almost done just have to glue the parts together and wait for the inteior to dry, all parts were primed and airbrushed. Going to clear coat the car plus the under belly of it as well just to protect it. Did a few color mod then what tamiya suggested of the under car because I felt that the under belly of the car is a piece of art work and should have some parts painted to show it. Hope it looks alright to you guys. Working on a second r32 but with physical mods this one will be bone stock.

no not yet, waiting for it to dry, just airbrushed it today, so have to glue them together, working on the engine block and front suspension as we speak. body is painted just have to do the decals and buff it to a mirror shine then clear coat it.

Should have a set of good pictures withing the week.

One thing about the 4wd system is that it is a piece of art work. Sorry about my crappy camera.

Looks good so far, nice drivetrain.
I would go for the original rims, only in a different color (but don't ask which color then...)
And what's wrong with your camera..? I can almost read the instructionsmanual's text, so that can't be wrong and your model is in it too, so it doesn't leave important things of. At least you can take non-blurry pics :D that's something I still have to learn to get. More than 75% are blurry when I take pics.

Some pics with the new rims, waiting for the paint to cure for a few days before applying the clear coat. Working on the custom radiator right now. hopefully things will be completed by the end of this week.

Hope you like it, Did not know how to lower this car and afraid to do it so maybe next time.

oops forgot to mention the hood is not there because I had to fill some cracks will be put on a little later, all the lense and interior is painted but wanted to see the look of tha car and get some suggestions on how to improve it. Not as good looking as pman's but I like it. Had to putty the rear wing a little because the gap was too big so I just clean it up a little.

Thanks to tazdev for his pic of the r32. I like the simple look with the split five spoke rims. These were the closes I could find

This is my purple R32 with 18" inch wheels. The bonnet is painted in flat black and there are some white decals.
