speed problem

I have a 97 2.4L cavalier and my speed problem is that as soon as i get up to right about 105 it feels like my engen kicks out on me. What going on and why? Can any one help?

Starting in about 1990 or so, almost all cars started coming equiped with a speed limiter. That is what is happening. Some chips (hypertech maybe) remove the speed limiter, but I don't know which ones do that. If you really want to remove it, I would call around to the local performance shops, and tell them you want to order a chip that removes your speed limiter, and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

does it just stop accelerating or does the speedometer just not seem to be going anywhere fast?

It just stops excelerating after i get up to about 105.

does it actually decellerate like the gas line is shut off? but then turn back on when u get down to about 100
