I really like the EVO8s but i think the STI will be the better car. The Sti has a six speed vs the EVO8s 5 (but i did hear Mitsu might make a six later but thats just hear say for now) also I dont know where some people got their info but the STI is not 35k it is suppost to be under 30k its the EVO8 thats 35k, at least thats what the dealer told me and thats what i have read also. As for power I read some where that the STI will come stock 300hp not the 270hp but I dont know much about EVO8s eng.
So if some of you could post your thoughts it would help as i am looking to maybe buy one of these two or a BMW.

Nah man, the sti in every other country has always been more money than the evo. Expect the sti to be over 30k. Mitsu will counter, and there will be an evo over 30k also.

The Evo's base MSRP is just under $29,000. What people will actually pay for it is another story altogether. As for the STi it will most likely be around $32,500 according to most rumors. I think the Evo may be on the weaker side on the stock power department, but by many accounts it should be able to outhandle the STi by a small margin. At any rate, depiste the lack of the 6-speed gearbox, AYC and ACD (all three of which are present on J Spec models) it's been reviewed as an awesome car. I'd expect no less.
And yeah, favre. I tend to agree with you. I think next year's Evolution will be including at least ACD and a 6-speed and cost will be comparable to the STi in that trim. :)

The Evo VIII and the STI are pretty much evenly matched. It all comes down to persoanl preference. Personally, I'm an Evo man. I love the extremene fierocity of it. The only real consistent difference between all the Evo's and Scoobies is the fact that the Evo's are usually more edgy, more dedicated. This often means fewer luxuries like air conditioning or power accessories. In addition, Evo suspensions are more stiff which means hard ride quality. Other than that the Evo and Scooby are evenly matched. Go with what you like.

You forgot that the STi has 30 more hp than the Evo, and has a 2.5 liter engine compared to Evo's 2 liter engine.

No one has tested this 2.5L engine yet, no one has got it before, even in japan so we dont know, may upset the handling a bit tho with more weight in the nose.

The engine is just an EJ25T. It's a bored and stroked version of the 2L EJ20T. It won't weigh any more.
IMHO, it looks like Evoss have had the advantage in tunability recently. I haven't seen very many GC8(previous gen) or GD8(current gen) Imprezas with more than 400hp. Quite a few Evos are making more than that on street turbos.

I stand by my statement. 30 horses more isn't an earth shattering difference. Bottom line, the Evo and STi are

That doesn't mean they're the exact same, just that when it comes down to it, they're not that much different. And I'm not bashing Scoobies. I drive a Scooby, look. I have great respect for them, but if I had my choice I'd go Evo.
Oh and we haven't seen the Evo VIII perform, either. Exciting times we live in. Competition breeds better products and you want hear me complaining about better Japanese sports cars!
Have you guys seen the new WRC Impreza? Click here (http://www.wrc.com/en_GB/Gallery/Photo/PhotoSearch.htm?Media=photo&Year=2003&Rally=&Driver=&Team=Subaru) to check it out. That spoiler is crazy!!!
