Bent Rim.. Slashed Wheel... not my day..

Never expect a pot hole to appear in the middle of the Bay Bridge. Was traveling around 60 mphs when I hit it and I bent my front right wheel :( . I was wondering what's the danger of running the car with a bent rim. Also, on the spot above the rim, on the tire sidewall, there is a tiny gash that appeared. I took it to the gas station today to pump air into my tires to 32 pressure. I drove about 20 miles to a tire shop and they said they couldnt fix the tire sidewall. I went back to the gas station, so around 40 miles driven on my bent rim later, the front tire still remain at 32 pressure on the gauge, so I guess there's no air leaking. I was wondering if there is anyway I can fix the tire sidewall myself (apply rubber cement to it? or any rubber adhesive?)
Also is there any danger to driving with a bent rim....?
thanks... sorry for the long post

It depends on the bend. If it's real severe I would just put your stocks back on.
Also you can take it up with the DOT. I killed my front lip and wrote PA DOT and they sent me a claims form to get reimbursed.

If your tire isnt leaking i wouldnt worry to much about it, and id def. try to get reimbursed if you can....that would be sweet. As for the bent wheel it really depends on how badly bent. And no there is no way to fix a slash in the sidewall...sorry....

Is there a way I can put rubber cement in just to fill the gash for a while until I get a new set of rim and tire?

if the slash is in your sidewall..aaah no:(
edit: i don't think rubber cement would help slashed tire period

I told them there was no signs for a dip or road construction. They sent me the forms. I filled it out.
