Does anyone know anything about the next generation camaro? All I've heard is that it cant be built for two years due to rules under the autoworker union. Has anyone heard anything?

As of 2004, there is no Camaro. It is being replaced. Good move to get rid of this outdated style.

Chevy stopped making the camaro in 2002. What are u talking about 2004?

Sorry. It is the Firebird that is being dropped for 2004. Or maybe 2004 is when the replacements for these two models is coming... I'm confised.

Hmm i always thought the Last year for the Camaro is 2002. Maybe it is the firebird. Will there be a next generation Camaro?

Both camaro and firebird production stopped in 2002. I don't know what's going on in 2004 though, so...

I've heard that there is a possibility for the return of the Camaro and Firebirds several years from now. Supposedly, GM is going back to the drawing board to create a Mustang stomping Camaro/Firebird. I really hope so, cuz mustangs although i like their looks, i hate Ford!

Yea, I also hate Ford and I hope GM does make the Stang-Stompers. I also hope they are completely redesigned. One of the reasons they got rid of these models was their outdated styling.

2004 Firebird replacement photos are in the Firebird Thread of the Pontiac section.

as far as I've been told the F-body is done..for now. The GTO is taking the place of the Firebird and the SSR is replacing the Camaro, at least in sales. The Chevy SS will probably come along soon as is the Chevy Bel-Air. Yes the Bel-Air is coming back, hopefully, to rival the Thunderbird and it is a very nice lookin ride. See my pics in the non-specific area for new rides. I am a little dissappointed in the Y-car though since this is all I work on I hate to see it wear the Caddy emblem!!

Yeah, i hope that GM has something that will stomp the new 2005 mustang with a "blower". I think the camaro should be the car with the older style front end than the mustang.

No way, the car company's need to leave the older styling back in the 60's, the new mustang is absolutely atrocious. They need to come up with a new design and leave all old design elements out of the new car. As for the Bel-Air, I haven't seen pics, mainly b/c I'm not too interested in it. I hope the styling is good. The Thunderbird is just ugly to me. I do like the GTO and Chevy SS hope they make them faster than the 'stang, otherwise GM is gonna lose my business and I'm sure others too.

The Bel-Air is not that great and will not be put in production. I see what you are saying about leaving old styles in the past, but I think it is good to go back to a time where American cars were about style and power and not fuel efficiency and "conservative" styling. The new GTO is great but should have brought back some of the old styling of the original Goats. That is why you bring back a legend, not to name some new piece of crap a GTO just so it sells. All manufacturers are being smart these days, mixing new edge with classic style. Dodge/Chrysler with their Hemis, Ford with their Mustang concept, and Pontiac with their GTO. They are taking a step forward while not forgetting their roots.

Yeah, your right...american cars are starting to bring back the 60-70's styles and a good example of this is that dodge has a HEMI out in its trucks. I wont be suprised if they put one in a car in the near future

All I can say is I hope they bring back a sweet looking camaro with a high displacement V8 and the power to put the rustangs in their place. By the way I personally think all these new retros look awfull - especially the new mustang concept. And the GTO concept has to be one of the most bland cars I've ever seen. Perfect example of why so few people buy american cars these days.

AmErIcAnMuScLe813, I couldn't say on how much i agree with you, I hope the new Camaro don't have the old style with the new. That makes it look like 2 cars in one. I don't see the reason to wast that kind of money making it look that way. Oh like how you call mustangs "rustangs" :D

Scott, Dodge already put Hemis in many concept CARS, a couple of which are going into production. The 300M Hemi is going into production for 2004, but they cancelled production of a convertable model. That would've been nice.

Scott 02

Well i figured they would put them in a car. Thats dodge. At least its going into the 300M.

Supercar_Man, I agree with you now about tying in old style lines with new ones. And I was thinking, they may also be targeting the 40 and 50 year olds who think the car reminds them of their '60s model Camaros and brings their old memories back. I tend to think thats a pretty good marketing plan.:)

I like Dodge and hope they release the Challenger. That was the car I was waiting for and when they scrapped it, I went with the Camaro. I hope the Camaro returns. There are rumor/"urban legend" stories that it will be a FWD V6. If that is the case then it should remain dead. I'm eager to see how the GTO turns out. It pains me to see the sports car dying out. I don't like Fords but what will become of the Mustang later on? I don't want to see anymore American Heritage going down the toilet.

I agree, i would hate to see American Heritage go down the drain. I personaly after looking over the 04 Mustang, I don't think it will do as well as what we all might think it will. It seems too much of a sports car now. The mustangs in the 90's some had V-8 and the others with V-6. The most afordable ones were with the V-6. Will this new Mustang have a V-6 available and if it does wouldn't that look kind of stupid. A 04 mustang that looks agressive with the old body style in the front with a touch of fords latest in the rest of the car equiped with i V-6. No way will they do as well as the last genration has done. Many wont be able to afford them.

I hope the Camaro returns. There are rumor/"urban legend" stories that it will be a FWD V6

Yep, if the Camaro returns FWD with a V-SUCKS then it should not even come out. It's not so much the V-6 its the fact that it might be FWD. That just destroys the Camaro there.

I'm eager to see how the GTO turns out. It pains me to see the sports car dying out

Im sure that the GTO will do pretty good. I know that they will be in the $35,000 range, but there are alot of collectors and alot of people that might chose the GTO over the Vette or Trans AM. Lets hope the sports cars don't die out. :)

The good thing that Pontiac did with a GTO: RWD V8
The bad thing: Looks like a Grand Am, no signs of a muscle car

The 1999 Pontiac GTO Concept car was a gorgeous car the brought back so much of the original GTOs' signature styling. I would've rather seen a toned down version of that with a RWD V8 than what Pontiac is putting out there.

Go there for pics of that car.

It'll be nice when they come back. I'm graduating in December of this year, so it'll be nice to put some money aside for a couple of years, and if Chevy comes back with something that is a true competitor for the super'd stangs, I'm all over it...

Otherwise, might have to go forced induction on my 01 :D

anyone seen the new SS concept? they havnt said anything, but i think some parts of it, hopefully (and doubtfully) the engine will be used in the camaro, its got a 6 liter 430hp small block. shove that into the next gen fbody!

Yeah I'd like to see a new engine option in some Chevy cars. Enough 350's. How about a 6 litre or a 6.5?

6.0 is what is in the trucks, though it is based on the ls1 so it will not be hard to adapt technology over. Big problem is getting these through the EPA,CAFE and insurance companies. Who's gona build a car that no one wants to insure?
