What year eclipse?? And how much driving experience do you have? I dont know if I'd recommend a beginner driving 160mph or one with a 4-500 hp AWD car..

5-7 grand? erm, no.

You cant just get a engine to 500hp and expect your car to react well to it. You need to get a list of EVERYTHING required to get your car to that amount of performance, and be able to be driven SAFELY.

Fuel rail (injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel regulator)
Intake (low restriction air intake, front mount)
Exhaust (no cats, good turbo exhaust system)
Turbo (performance turbo, performance BOV, performance wastegate, relief valve, big intercooler)
Nitrous
Brakes (calipers, rotors, pads, brake lines)
Engine (piston rings, seals, valves, lifters, cams, pistons, gaskets, oil filter)
Electronics (turbo timer, boost controller)
Drivetrain (racing clutch, light flywheel, new axles, lower geared tranny)
Safety (roll cage, fire extinguisher, fuel cell)
Suspension (stiffer struts & shocks, strut tower bars, lightweight 16"rims)

That alone is about 13K in parts alone, not considering install. You cant just put a big turbo on an expect it to work or even be driveable. The only year for gsx i believe was 97. Yea, as ninja said, I dont think I want sombody with no RACING experience to be driving around in a car like that. Go get lessons on how to race on the track.

They've made a GSX model for every year up untill they changed to the current body style in 2000?

Just like the Talon has a TSi option for every year it was made.

Well in general terms i say reinforce completelly the bottom end and for 500 hp i say everything rods crank pistons and sleves. Of course everything blueprinted and balanced. A new high performance head.

For a turbo i say get a T3/T4 Garrett turbo. new oil and gas pump. New injectors. Stand alone ecu(better than piggyback). You'll probabbly need about 20+ psi out of the turbo for 500hp.

MSD ignition system.

Reinforce the tranny which migh be a problem since is an gsx and therefore AWD. I think i woould recomend a FWD gsr(easier to reinforce the tranny)

New big brakes mucho importante(must stop)cross driled 13-15 in rotors and 4 piston caliper brembos. good suspension. KYb are
excellent with einbach coils.

Well this is some pretty genral stuff. Do you need more specific recomendations?

BTW redneck how can I join the american club. I wanna be badass too.:(

Well, I could list all the stuff, but it would be easier for me to refer you to this months issue of Sport Compact Car. They have an awesome artical on building up the 4G63.

There is no carb on the eclipse. Dude, No offense but if you don't know about it, you shouldn't be driving it.

You don't need to know much. Just buy a buncha stickers, slap 'em on, and that'll give you at least more 400hp. And of course a fat pipe from MoTeC would make you even more Fast and Furious ;)

Ahaha, tell it like it is, brother ;)

Anyways, Neutrino, I would think you would want the traction of the AWD system, especially when trying to put down more than 400hp... Just my crazy thought I guess...

I wasn't saying that AWD is bad its actually awesome to have. But it wil snap lilke a twing under 500hp. It needs to be reinforced and its very complicated to reinforce an AWD sys its much easier to reinforce a FWD.

It's not that hard, you just have to make sure you've got strong axles and gearsets in your differentials...

Although it would cost a lot more, I wouldn't want to drive a 400hp FWD car, when AWD is an easy option.

I see all the time the problems that vr4's drive train have when upgrading the hp in their cars. And vr4 are designed from the start with high hp.,

Yogs knows best i presume we should ask him.

No all eclipses are Front weel drive FWD and only the gsx was All wheel drive AWD. No rwd eclipses.

What you want for RWD burnouts is a 300zx tt. You can get one for 10k. There is a guys selling on this thread:

:uhoh: why do you want to burn out  Not even going to touch that issue:apoke:

ummmmm?

Yes.. GSX is AWD (All wheel Drive)... meaning all 4 tires have power diverted to them. Thus on launch you have less chance of spinning the wheels and more rubber on the ground to grip.

Ahhhhhhh, racing is in a sad sad state...:( :(
Anyways, having and AWD system is better one hundred percent of the time. Like someone else mentioned above(forget who) it's not HARDER to upgrade an AWD system for high HP, just more EXPENSIVE. If you have the money, it won't make too much difference rather it's FWD or AWD. Except with the AWD you'll be leaving the competition behind from the start of the race:D

i did not say its imposible and if you don't have the money of course its harder. You can make anything with money.

Exactly, just more expensive... and it's not like you can find many tougher AWD components... Except for Audi parts, good ol Germans :D
