I've seen Cold Air Intakes on Ebay for like $80.00. I was wondering if Those generic brand intakes would make less power than the popular brands.

Basically all CAI's offer the same kind of performance overall, it's either you sacrifice low end speed or gain top end performance, this is possible with either the CAI or WAI.
I don't think brand matters though as long as the set-up of the intake is basically the same.
The only thing about the CAI is that it is usually ran from a hole outside the wheel well on the Max and therefore requires longer tubing, which means it takes the air longer to travel before it reaches the engine, this is why there is a somewhat loss of power on the low end.
I can be wrong though if I were you I'd do more research before buying one particular brand or another based on the different type of set-ups for the kind of car(s) you may be interested in putting one on.

pretty much any of them will get air to the engine faster than the stock intake tho, if u do get an intake wait and see how much is really there when u go to pull that thing out of ur engine bay:jumpie: :jumpie: :jumpie:

yea man, doesent matter, dont pay the extra money for an intake cause its a brand ... here in CA I gotta take mine off every 2 years for smog cause it isnt carb approved, but for the $30 bux it cost me, it isnt that much of a hassle for me.

if ur gettin a CAI, there is the one that goes in the fenderwell, and there is one that injen makes that doesnt, it jus has a lil more piping to it. the injen one does cost a lil more tho

I just got my Injen CAI today. You dont need to cut anything. It just goes down behind the radiator, although you have to take out the complete stock air piping.

No complaints with the Place Racing, It gives me very good power when I need it and it tells everyone around me that I ain't stock baby!!!:D
p.s Sounds really good with the Stillin Muffler
By the way, it seems as though I'm the only Max owner in here with a Stillin exaust. Does anyone else in here have it, if not, have you guys heard any negative feedback about the stillin mufflers. Personally i have no complaints except for the droning at 2500 rpm

I've never heard anything bad about PlacRacing, they make their products specifically for the Nissan line, especially the Max. As far as the droning in the "Stealin", I've heard someone else complain of it too over at the org, a lot of people who had the Stealin ended up going back to the stock muffler because they said they had no gain at all (quotes from 2k owner and above) plus they said the muffler was too loud.
I guess the 5thgen muffler from what I've read everywhere is one of the best, if not the best designed stock muffler system around as far as performance and low noise is concerned.
On top of all that you do tend to pay a lot more for Stealin, he's expensive that's why a lot of us on this forum won't have it, just too much cheese but they are nice though.:smoker2:

im need to get an exhaust badly, that or im jus gonna say screw it and get a truck, but which is better, the stillen or the greddy cat back?
Paonessa

either one would be good. those are probably the 2 loudest cat-backs to choose from. Apexi is nice. if i didn't go stillen that would have been my next choice

I got to disagree with you guys on the Stillin Muffler being loud, The only time you hear the muffler is when you start driving, after that it drones at 2000 to 2500 rpm, after that all you hear is intake.... You don't even hear it after that.... I'm just speaking from experience on my 95 max... Oh I bought my muffler from this doctor who got rid of his Max because he had twns and wanted a truck, I only paid $200 so I couldn't go wrong:D p.s and he only had it for like 2 months, I seen the reciept...:D

How does the Greddy sound anyway? Is it loud or is it more low and deep? Ive never heard one on a max, only on an :monkeypis eclipse
