I has a 2000 Focus ZX3 2.0. I am get a check engine light and after reading the code it shows cyl #2 misfiring. I replaced the plugs and wires and checked the power pack Im getting good spark on all cyl. Does anyone have any ideas what esle could cause that problem?
Thanks
1/15/08 Ok I replaced the plugs, wires, PVC, and power pack. I am still getting the P0302 code and the engine idles very rough, sounds like its losing a cyl and only idling on 3 cyl. when I'm driving theres no problem but at a stop light or sign it idles rough, any other suggestions anyone ????
Thanks

A cylinder specific misfire indicates that either compression, appropriate fuel mixture, or spark is missing. Start with looking for a vacuum leak close to the cylinder affected. Fuel injector for that cylinder could be dirty and cause a lean fuel condition. Cleaning the injectors with a good quality of fuel tank additive would be an all around good thing to do. Merry Christmas. Dave

The intake on the plenum for the PVC valve is near the #3 cylinder. It could be stuck and be drawinig in too much air for #3 to fire. Replace the PVC valve. It's only a couple bucks and you can unplug the old and plug in the new yourself. First things first. Replace the spark plug and wire on that cylinder.

I had this problem fixed by mechaninc. It turns out, the plugs were floating in water. This ruined the plugs and contaminated the whole area. They replaced my wires and I had already replaced the plugs. The corrosion in the block was causing the issue.
Today, I got a P0302 indicating the #2 misfire. I popped open the plugs wires and voila.... full of water.
I had to remove the top pan to get enough access to soak up all the water. I put it all back together and the engine is still sputtering. Misfire on #2. I'll bring it in tomorrow again so they can clean it all out again.
Watch for water/moisture in the plug areas.... no way to drain it.
