Querstion About Coil overs

On my 90 accord lx, what is the most i could lower my car with 17" wheels, and still be able to go over the curb of my driveway, and speed bumps, without bottoming out?

depends how big the curbs an speed bumps are :D . nah, but i'd say u could lower around 2 inches an be fine. i had 17's on my accord w/ the H&R Racing drop which is around 2.25 in the front an a lil lower in the rear (i think). my drop was over 2 inches an was fine. jus gotta take it slow an be careful as with any drop. good luck.

mine is dropped around 2.75 and the only thing i ever scrape is my mud flaps...like krnx said...you just have to take it slow and be careful.

You might be able to take it SLOW on side roads, but not on highway driving...risky and dangerous thing to do. Not all higways are in perfect smooth condition, unexpected bumps are everywhere. Its your ride, however low you decide to go with the 17" rims, just remember you need the camber kit after 1.50-1.75", and make sure you select the correct offset for the rims so that your tires will be tucked in. Another thing you need to know, 17" will make your ride look sharp but slow. Good luck!:)

Wait, a minute, im thinkin about not gettin 17's and just keeping the stock rims and getting new hubcaps, so i will be lowering it more. Whats a camber kit, and how do i select the right offset for the rims?

If you're keeping the stock rims then you don't need to worry about offset. The camber kit is to give your car the adjustability needed to correct the toe-in/toe-out alignment for your tires...meaning, giving all tires even contact to the ground. Not in an angle, which normally occurs after lowering the vehicle.:D

I have Eibach Sportline springs and tokicos and I'm sitting pretty low. I'd guess I'm 2.5 - 3.0 lower than stock. It's low enough that the bottom lip of the front bumper will just barely go over a normal size curb. It scrapes but it goes over. I just have the stock 15" wheels right now. I'm just trying to give you something to compare with. If I were you I'd get 16 wheels and lower it about 2.5 inches. You should be good to go. Also, a camber kit is something that you attach to your control arms to adjust the tilt in your wheels. When you lower your car the wheels will point inward (negative camber). On the other hand if you jack up your truck like crazy you get caster (positive camber). So a camber kit just corrects the problem and straightens up your wheels. Well, the reason im keepin the stock rims is cuz im in high school, and i have like no money, so im basically goin with everything as low budget as i can, without makin it look like crap. Thanks a lot for the explanation, i actually know what you mean now. How much would a camber kit be, and is it easy to install, or would i have to get somebody to do it for me?

I don't have any pitures yet but I may pretty soon. I'll hold on to your e-mail address and mail them to you asap. About the camber kit...The rear wheels are a lot easier. All you really need is a couple of thick washer's to put in the screw of your upper control arm. As for the front wheels you need to have a kit. The kit is around 100 bucks depending on what you buy. I'm not sure how hard it is to install. I'm guessing it's not too bad. So it is a little pricy but it's that or let your tires be worn improperly. Personally I have had my car lowered for about 2 or 3 months I guess and it's really not too bad on the tires. i don't have a lot of camber really. You might be able to pull it off. I haven't put on the front or rear camber kit yet. I'll prolly do the rear at least before I put on a new set of treads.

i wanna get ibach shocks but i havent herd anything about them what should i get

I have Eibach Springs. I don't know if Eibach makes shocks/struts. I also have Tokico Premium Struts (blues). I had coilovers but I got rid of them because it was way too bumpy. So yeah if you want Eibachs get Eibach Sportline Springs and then some struts. Tokicos are good. KYB's aren't bad. You'll need to replace the struts if you want a good setup. The struts will end going bad anyway so I hear. Something about the fluids getting too hot. You get what you pay for I guess.
