Shortie Headers will be hard to find for that year and that car. I could only finder regular headers for that car, and were made my dynomax.

Shory headers are pretty easy to find for a SBC of any age
not for the 231 v6 though.(i have a v6 and finally ordered long tube pacesetters)
for the air dam, go to
http://www.opgi.com
for the shorty headers, check out that same site, or
http://Jegs.com
I've also heard 'yearone' and performance automotive warehouse "paw"
has some.
hope this helps.

flowtech ($100) and pace setter ($140) make shorty headers. flowtechs are listed in jegs. Im not sure exactly who has your air dam. But laurenengineering.com has lots of fiber glass and urethane body parts for the el camino. It may be in there.

I endednup with Hedman Shorties. I have a 1984 El camino, and I used the driver's side from an F body, and the Passenger side for a G body. Summit sold them to me separate via special order. I test fir 4 sets to get this set up, so don't do what I did. Not every one will work.

Why do you want shortie headers?

I needed them (personally) to replace the stock manifolds, that are piped over to the passenger side, where a dual inlet/dual outlet Cat. was installed about 4 years ago. Since I spent the money on all mandrel bent tubing, and I have to pass emmissions in the Chicago area, this was the best option for me. Also, I believe you get a little more low end torque in comparison to the longer versions. Since it's a daily driver for me, I don't need the top end power. I am getting 256 ft/lbs to the ground at about 2000 RPM. I also have a Monte SS Posi in the rear, with a 2.41 ratio. So I get mileage, and I can pass emmissions. The long block is stock, but other stuff has been done. Visit the web site for details.

The long tubes make more torque. But the would be a bear to hook up to the cat to keep it legal. My Elcamino came with the 2.41 posi. Iy was a weird combination: 229 V6, 4 speed, A/C delete and the 2.41 posi. No emission tests where I am so roller 406, Muncie M21, Moser 9 inch with 3.89 posi and 2 1/2 duals with long tube headers.

I used Hedman headers on my '86. It should be the same as yours. I believe the number was 68606. The custom exhaust shop said they were easier to work with when going to true duals. No complaints.

That was the number all right. I have that on the pass. side. Except, to use a single cat, I had to use the F body drivers side, that goes straight down, and under. Did you go with a different Transmission cross member to run your duals?

No, the exhaust shop "ovaled" (is that a word?) the driver's side pipe at that point and ran it under the crossmember. Looks good and I don't have any ground clearance problems.

That's the way mine was when I bought it, except it would rub once in a while. they make good cross members for that. G-Force, and I think Summit is making one now. I had one side fall apart after I bought it, then went to single, then all dual, then headers with a cat. I have had the truck/car about 14 years, and drive it every day.
