So I got my 00 LX a year and a half ago but hadn't really done anything to it before now. I sprayed the taillights a while back but that's it until I finally got some wheels.

00 Si's. Let me know what you think, and what i should do next. I'm not really into racing as much as just making the car look nice so intakes, etc. are out for now.

Very nice. Keep the clean theme.
I like the tail lights. A list of mods to do in order of neccesity (body focus):
1. LOWER with proper springs/shocks
2. Get some bigger rims (powder coated white would look good - NOT CHROME) 16" or 17" minimum
3.Paint all black parts (eg. door handles) body colour
4. Get some headlight treatment - eg. black chrome inserts or eyelids
5. Don't E-V-E-R get a wing for it. Please.

thats a 2000 LX? I thought that all 99-00 civic coupes or sedans have ther red/clear taillights. that looks like one from a 96-98 version.

matt, it's a 2000. The coupe's have red/clear but the sedan's have red/amber. I sprayed the amber so it's red now.

Oz, thanks for the ideas. I've been thinking about painting the black parts first. It'll give the car a nicer look. Does anyone know how much that'd cost? Oz, what do you consider the 'proper' lowering setup. I like the idea of coilovers since I could change my mind often. Also, what do you mean by black chrome inserts for headlights? And, by the way, i hate wings. I was thinking about getting the factory style low profile spoiler.

Thanks for the feedback:D

nice car, keep it clean
Teal. It's what's for dinner.
and just what does that mean?

In the mid 90's chicken was taking over the meat market due to it's healthier image. The beef market was lagging, so they started running TV ads with quick, easy and healthy dishes with beef in them. The new slogan was, "Beef, it's what's for dinner." Therefore, I am saying that teal deserves it's time in the limelight.

(or didn't you notice that my car is teal also)

civicHBsi91, in 99 they redid the teal color and called it "Iced Teal." It's like you said, like a sky blue with a hint of green. I don't even call it teal because anytime I need to identify the car (at a shop or something) they always say, "That's not teal...it's more of a...light green." And yes, they do pause while trying to think of what color it is. They're so stunned by the beauty that is "Iced Teal"!!! :D

The picture's also got some weird lighting. The most accurate representation is right above the gas tank lid.

If you want to lower you car with coilovers try ground controls with some koni adjustables or if you want real coilovers go for tein or apex.

Vtec, I've been thinking about lowering it. I wouldn't want to lower much at all, maybe 1.5" at most. Do they even make springs that are a 1" drop for an 00 civic? Anyway, I'm told coilovers are more expensive overall and if I get some springs that don't make my car look seriously dropped then I know I'll want to keep it that way. Still a month or two from seriously considering it, but I am thinking about it.

kicker, what's your setup? (wheel size, springs brand, drop size & $$ it took?)

Hey everyone, thanks for making my clean little car's post a 2 pager. I've always wanted a 2 pager. Always.:D

Painting the black bits? Not much. Get some body coloured paint from your local Honda dealer, and use a primer/sander combination to paint them.

I consider a proper setup either shocks revalved to suit the new springs or a new spring AND shock combo. I wouldn't go any lower than 2" drop. And good suspension shop should be able to do this for you.

I mean by chrome inserts the inserts you can buy that make the headlights appear to be split into two. Makes the car look less bug eyed :)

I wouldn't even get the factory spoiler. You have a VERY good looking rear end at the moment. Don't change it except for maybe delete some labels/badges. :finger:

If you want such a small drop then go for eibach pro kit they offer a 1 - 1.5" drop springs. And yes springs are cheaper ,and being such a small drop there would be no need for shocks you could just keep the stock ones.

I say if you're gong with looks then get some nice 17s or18s (still watch the weight on them though, you wanna outrun a metro) and then color the door handles and everything else that isn't "iced teal". If you have the money you might want to even shave the things off your car like the door handles and the antenna and the emblems and such.

I have a quesiton though, have people colored their door handles and such with the touchup paint for their vehicles and had it look good?

Vtec, I've been looking at that Eibach pro kit. I saw one on eBay new for around $100! (should I trust eBay?) Someone else said to try and paint the black stuff myself and I figured it would look bad. I'll just find a paint shop.

tynebeach, and many others out there, the whole point of this post is that I just got these wheels. I'm not about to upgrade them again for a while.

But thanks for the ideas:D

I donno about ebay it's to easy for them to screw you ,but then again you can get the odd good deal. Check the sellers feedback and see what other ppl had to say. when I painted my moldings etc. I just taped everything off and sprayed it where possible that is, if not then I'm sure a body shop would do it cheap enough.

well since you guys shot down my idea of using the touch-up paint to tolor the door handles and all is it possible to buy like some aerosol paint from a car dealership that matches your car color?

How much did you pay for your Si rims?

filmfiend81
01-21-2003, 01:50 AM
fatninja, I got the set for $450 with tires. I looked at them when i picked them up, and didn't really notice that 2 were pretty much unusable. The guy had lowered his Si and had WAY too much negative camber so the inside tread was smooth on the front 2. So technically I got 4 rims and 2 tires for $450. I'm not that disappointed, the rims are in mint condition.:D
