I would to know all the good and bad things about a 1982-1991 Camaro IrocZ. I have been looking into them and they look super clean. Thanx for all your input!:bandit: :bandit:

You can beat the engines and they will take it, thats the great thing about them. Like any older car things will need to be fixed as the car gets older but since its an american car and there are lots out there parts are cheap and usually easy to find. If I had to say one bad thing it would be about the tranny and clutch, my friend had to replace his tranny 3 times.

Try to stay away from the 305 engines. Make sure the rear hatch does not leak and rattle like hell. Stay away from the ones with t-tops. Couple years ago I found a 92 that I bought and it was owned by an older guy that did not rag it out, so I had no problems with it for the time I had it. This will be your best bet as most ones owned by the younger crowd are ragged out bad.

good luck with a purchase.

stay away from t-tops in all years! they weaken the body so much! the fourth gen got the good motor, but the third gen was the best handling of them all. i fixed that and put a fourth gen motor into my 85.

I own a '01 Z28 and love it. When I got stationed in England I got a third gen. Hey, had to have some Americana. :D I love the third gen. even if it is a 305. For kicks, I am looking to work with the 305. I'm not looking to making it a "rice killer" or track car or anything. Just a hobby I want. Hell if people can make thier civics and such fast.....

Anyhow, mine is pretty clean. I will work on it and use it to "learn" how to work on cars when I get back to the US and have two cars. A good way to take care of the weakness caused by t-tops is to get some subframe connectors. I hear they work wonders.
