well im the proud new owner of a 1998 honda civic DX, and i have a couple questions already. First of all, is there a way i could convert the stock block to vtec? Also, how about a bolt on manifold from say a ZC? Also, what are the nicest and most convenient seats to put in it from another honda or acura? Whats the best site for and sir-II front end? And how about the most responsive mod's for my engine right now?
hey, it'll give ya somethin to thing about and thanks for your time

as far as a vtec head on your d15b2 block goes....you could go mini-me but that setup is VERY unreliable, and overheats badly pretty much no matter what. the zc head wont work either, as far as resopnsive mods would go....the first thing i would do is convert from dpfi (dual port injection) to mpfi (multiport injection) otherwise none of the mods will take much effect at all, and be pretty much worthless

i assume you mean a 1988... and either a DPFI to a MPFI or else a engine swap are your best bets right off... course you could always do the intake header and exhaust but you won't see much of a gain... an engine is more worth while most of the time...

whoa my bad yea 88, so can what block could i grab this manifold off of?
would the engine's potential be enough to keep the block then? how easy would it be to convert? where could i find one of these?
thanks for the help

I'm sure you meant '88. VTEC is in the head, not the block. I'm not sure if a ZC manifold will bolt on, but Si one will. Easiest seats would be Civic Si seats from an '89, not sure if they will bolt right in though, but it's not to hard to modify the brackets. And an SirII is a 92-95 Civic, maybe you meant regular SiR.

yea yea head block ... anyways, i think there are JDM Sir II's, they had the first b16a's in em if im correct
now, converting crx stuff ... did a stock crx come with the ZC or d16a8/9's? I also hear to fit the ZC a crx had a bigger hood. if so would this fit my dx? im thinking of buying a beat crx as a part car how worthwhile would that be?

The first B16A was found in the 89 JDM Integra XSi/RSi. 90-91 brought about the first EF8 & EF9 CR-X and Civic (respectively) SiRs, both of which came with the 160hp B16A. The 92-95 SiR Civic and CR-X Del Sol had a a newer version of the B16A w/ a hydro trans instead of cable, and 170hp.
Now, the stock USDM CRX came with 3 different engines for the 3 different models (HF,DX,Si). The HF and the Si are MPFI, while the DX CRX (like the Civic) is DPFI. The USDM CRX Si came a D16A6 (SOHC, 108hp), while the JDM CR-X Si came with the DOHC ZC motor. You do not need to replace the hood if you swap a DOHC ZC motor into your 4G civic, if the valve cover rubs the hood at all, just remove the heat shielding material on the bottom of the hood (that's what i did when my B16's valve cover was rubbing on the hood). If you can find an Si CRX as a parts car, then i would get it. You can use the CRX Si dash and seats, as well as other things under the hood, like the MPFI setup, and the injector resistor box that you will need if you plan to run a MPFI motor in your DX. hope this long ramble helped :)

You can get a decently priced zc at Nippon-Motors (http://www.nippon-motors.com/). Although by what I'v seen and heard its almost cheaper to go b16a because the ZC engines pretty much have to be rebuilt due to the fact that they have been sitting a while.

well the same goes for the b16's... they are generally just as old...
