How or were do you buy the kits for volvos. Can you just use them from other cars. Also what about making it fast. Where do you get stuff like that too?

To make a 240 Volvo fast it would have to be a RADICAL mod. I have a 1979 244 DL Volvo and it's in great condition. Looks brand new. I have done quite some mods to it but only cars I've been able to beat in a race have been a 150+ mile automatic 1989 Toyota Corolla and three other 240 DL's NON-TURBO.
My volvo has a sport exhaust without resonator, a Performance camshaft, an MSD, a Fuel Pump from a 740 Turbo, 8mm spark plug wires, and the motor was completely rebuilt in November 2001. All of this together and still it took 19.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile. If you really want to make it run fast you would either have to turbo boost it somehow (although I don't recommend it) or the best mod yet for a 240: put in a V8 in that big hole underneath the hood.
There have been a few Volvo fanatics that have done this kind of thing. There's even a Manual for sale on how to change the 240 DL to a V8. And because of the heavyness of the car, it only gets to about 15.5 in the 1/4 mile after this mod. Weren't it for the brickish style of the Volvo (which by the way is what makes a Volvo so safe) it would lower to the 13's. The best thing of having done this mod is that no one (not even the cops) will even think that you have a 15 second car and therefore their defeat would be a hell of a lot sweeter!!!! But I don't have that kind of money so I just bought another car jeje (although I still have my Volvo).
To get all this info you should check the IPD catalog. Go to www.ipdusa.com and order a free catalogue for your "vintage" Volvo.
