Virus Alert...

if any of you guys recieve a e-mail that tells you to download a screensaver.......DONT....................its a virus and im infected wit it....................it fucks up your computer entirely....we went to the store and got it fixed but not totaly yet...........so no matter what dont accept it......and also if you allready have it...then it sends itself to other people you know too.........so make sure you dont accept it..........

just thought you guys might like to know...

yeah, i get atleast one a day, usually from a friend, i guess she is infected with it and it will keep reading her address book and sending them out untill she deletes it?

actually they're not ALL screensavers. some of them come as e-cards as well. so the thing i found to watch for is all of them are either 46kb or 47kb in size. that's pretty much the way i use to tell if it's one or not. another thing: if the virus gets on your comp, it sends the virus to everyone in your address book at least once a day (my friend is infected and i get at least 2 a day from him).

Quick Fix: Don't download anything from anyone unless you specifically request it from them. It may contain or be a virus:rolleyes:

Long Fix: Reformat your Hard Drive and reinstall you operating system. This will take on average, 3 hours for a 40gig hard drive. Your loss.

Even with all the problems I have had with my isp, one great thing about them is everything gets scanned by them when it comes via email. To date I have had 22 emails with attachments and a little message at the bottom of the email stating that:

The attched file has been deleted because it was infected with bla bla virus. Another great way Xtra looks after its customers.
