well... the esprit will be retiring, and the M250 was never put into production... the 340R's are all gone... when will lotus release a new car? the elise, amazing as it is, can't hold the company up on it's own... anyone hear any whispers of new stuff?

HI,

The Lotus Esprit is still around for the time being... several 2002's still available..great car!!! and there will be 2003's Esprits coming to the US this year and Lotus applied for one more exemption and it was approved for 2003 but for the last time. In the UK Esprits will end production mid way of 03 and by Dec of 03 for the US. The good news is.. lotus is working hard on many engineering projects for other companies which helps bring in funding for new cars of there own. Currently the Elise will be coming to the US by early 04 from what i understand. The Esprit will be coming back as well as a new model with new engine, geometry, interior, suspension the works but hopefully still with the wedge styling! but in a few years as of now.. plus Lotus is thinking and starting to look into a 4 seater sports car. So all three cars would be marketed to the US and Europe. So nothing is definite yet on when there coming but they are working on things now. So keep the faith with Lotus..they will be back..and hey there still here!!!

I heard there's going to be a succesor to the esprit in 2006-2007, as well as two new other cars

There's a pic of it in this weeks copy of that english magazine "Nuts" I think. Trust me I don't read that shit, I just look at the cars. It's fresh, nicer than that other concept they had lined up. I'll get a scan of it soon.

What do you think? For £75.000 it's cheap to look that good don't you reckon?

Mm'mm, hate to say, but it dangerously flirts with geometry shape
of Lambo, this is not a very brave or original shape.

I hope they will look elswhere for inspiration if they can't deliver shape
from their own Lotus boards.

World is enough troubled with just one Gallardo :(

I have to agree it does look a bit like a Lambo.

i beleive it was road and track that said it would get a toyota v8 with some kind of forced induction and would make around 500 bhp. as long as they stay with tradition (make it light) the lambo is history. hey, i just had a thought. they might use a truck engine so torque #'s will be pretty big. anyone know anything else about it?
