well i finally got my BFG ATs 31x10.5 on my X over the weekend. i noticed the new tread is throwing a lot of rocks up. i had to do a little bit of triming on the mud flap up front to stop some rubbing (as you all know) i was wondering if i got some of the nissan mud flaps if i could do a smillar amout of triming and get the mud flaps to fit with the new tires without rubbing?
anyone tried anything like this? do the mud flaps stick out towards the tire too much? i don't want to trim 70% of the flap to stop the rubbing, that defeats the purpose.
any hints, pointers, and suggestions welcome.

Get the splash guards (that's their real name) for the 2002+ Xterra and you can easily adapt the existing plastic (flare) to accept them with nothing more than a couple of holes to drill. You can trim your flare to clear the tire (or go further to match the contour of the splash guard) and you'll be in business. This combination can clear 32x11.50 tires, I'm running that setup myself.

mud flap, splash guard.... tomato, tomato
thanks for the advice, good to know that 2002 splash guards will work on a 2000 with minor mods.

The reason I corrected you about the splash guard issue is because you said you had trimmed your mud flap but you were referring to the flare.

I have 2002 mud flaps on the front of my truck. Very simple and easy to do.
