What is the best tire size for 17's?
215/45?

depends on how wide you want the tires.
You obviously want them to be low profile since you chose 45, but if you want them to be fat tires, go with 235 or higher... 225 is as wide as Cadillac Seville STS tires, and 215 isn't too wide, but will look wide non the less... it really doesn't make a difference.

Unless you plan on using longer wheel studs and going with wheels with a huge offset, 225's are the widest tires reccommended for the DSM 235 and up can contact the body work.
Using low profile tires also means you use a wider wheel. Most 17" wheels are 17X7 which I believe that a 225/45/R17 tire requires a wheel at least 7 inches in width which would mean any other size about 225 with a sidewall ratio of 45 wont fit on that rim.
Just double check all the numbers before you buy.
