sick of racism

I have officially had it with the place I work I can't belive that many racist ass holes can all be in one place at one time. I'm a white guy so I don't get any of it and none of my coworkers are either because my boss is a racist ass hole and would never hire a minority if he had to. I would really love to tell all of the guys I work with that they all suck ass and that I hope they burn in hell :mad:. I work in an auto parts store (one that gives discounts to good customers) so we are able to change prices both up and down so the typical thing for my co workers to do is to over charge most of the minoritys that come in unless they speak perfect english and know exactly what they want. and I get so pissed off cause they laugh about it and say it's what they deserve for not speaking english. no what they really need is to be treated with respect and not get fucked over. :mad: man it really pisses me off and the only reason I don't say anything is cause I need a job and they will work hours for me so that I can go to class and work and not get overwhelmed but as soon as I get another job I can't wait to tell them all how much they piss me off. ah thats better, everyone have a good day and remember we are all the same inside and thats all that matters. :sun:

Well said. Though racism Isn't as dominate as it was in the early years, those who still believe in it are making use of their belief. And don't worry, they'll get theirs sooner or later, what goes around comes around, and if you are there to witness them in their downfall, then it makes it all the more sweet.

i'm sick of being discriminated

I was assed out of a promotion because I wasnt aminority,

I get hell from alot of people because i'm "a dumb ass white kid"

I get treated like shit at work because i'm not mexican, or black...whites and asians get the shaft there, especally sence so many illegal mexicans work there who decided to come over because they get a free ride dont work at all, ,I have to pick it up. Naimly because 80% of the supervisors are mexican, and they have the "I look after my own race" attitude

I'm sick of being the majority and always sticking up for the minority only to be treated like shit by so many of them

(1, I am not racest, I have mexican friends, and have had black friends and asain friends etc
2, the illegals told me this is why they came over, so dont start shit.
3. Untill I can walk through compton or west LA and not have to fear being killed because i'm WHITE, I wont stop saying there are color differences, naimly whites being the minority in my area.
and lastly, a black or mexican man walking through Beverly Hills, being stoped by the police...ok...put a white guy in watts, NO POLICE, he just dies.)

I can't imagine anyone here admitting they are racist. And I hope no one is. I do know that I've had had a few “discussions “ between my fists and the face of those who disparage my wife. Not to often, but it happens. She tells me she runs into it when she’s out and about and she says she sees it more in metropolitan areas then here in a small northern town. She stands up for herself as best she can, but one small woman can only do and say so much safely.

I grew up in South Africa(please note: I was NOT born there), so I have seen racism taken to a whole new level.
You may not know and I doubt you want to hear it, but there are as many racist african people as there are white people.....and you can't just blame apartheid.
Some people use their position to empower themselves over another ethnicity, I have seen it happen on a daily basis.
I have stood in a line at a grocery store, where the cashier was african, there were other african folk waiting to be served, but I had been waiting the longest, I was served last!! Because I was white, I had to wait longer and they were served ahead of me.

I have even had PM's on here from people calling me a racist bastard because they found out where I grew up, what is wrong with that?

I am not racist, I even speak some African languages, but I get angry being treated different because I am white.
I get treated different in America because I have an accent, people I work with make fun of it, that is discrimination too, just like racism, and the best is, I am American.

freakray: I was born in South Africa, I lived there til March 99 when I moved to NZ, I know exactly what you're talking about. I came here and people immediately assumed I was racist just because I was South African. My family is racist and I can't stand it, and this country, no matter what they say, is racist. It's discrimination here, people of minority groups get all these extra things given to them without having to do anything, if a majority wants part of that they have to jump through a million loops, or they get a flat out NO.Come to think of it, don't even get me started on this government, I'll wear my keyboard out... My parents are both extremely racist- They hate everybody who isn't from Europe, North/South America, the Carribean South Africa or Australaia/NZ.


They don't like many Maori people- they think they are mostly whingers and crims.

They don't like Asians- for some true reasons- But they are stereotypes that can't be applied to all of them.

My dad even refuses to hire Asians- thier friends are all the same.

well I'm kinda suprised that my little post prompted such a wide variety of responces. to tell you the truth I never really thought much about racism untill I took a sociology course last semester in college about "racial and ethnic relations" it really opened my eyes to the kinds of things that members of minorites have gone through, some even brought about by the goverment that said it would protect them (bastards) :mad: . anyway now when I look at the way people treat other people I am shocked, and I never would have been in the past I just would have ignored it, which (even though we won't admit) is taught to us (mainly white americans) all the way from childhood by the actions we see in our parents, peers, and media. In Soc. this is called the "cultural transmission theroy". Of which I belive in very strongly. here's an example: think of when you were a kid watching cartoons, ever seen "speedy Gonzalez"? on the surface you may not notice it. but if you pay attention he represents many of the stereotypes that surround mexican american people; such as his very quick and (sometimes) very broken english, furthermore his friend (who name I can't remember, I think it was Pepe.?) is always sleeping and/or getting drunk. Most people never even notice these things in these cartoons, because we have been subjected to them our whole lives, but the younger generations that see these cartoons are born having no ideas of racism or stereotypes, and then they see things like this, and then we as a society wonder why racism won't dissapper. I think the answer is obvious we allow too much stereotypical and racist additudes to be seen by our youth. and even though "speedy gonzalez" is not responsable for all of the racism that exists, it is a contributer of this behavior. so in closing if you have kids or plan to have kids becareful as to what you say around them, or let them view because even if you don't think they will get these "hidden" messages THEY WILL! and racism will always exist in a society that does nothing to resolve it. This thread really caught my eye. Im a Jew, and Im proud of it. I wear a Star Of David, I go to rallies supporting Isreal, and I go to synnagouge alot.

Dont get me wrong. One of my best friends(who unfortunately moved to Cali) is a Devout Muslim. We have our differing political views, and in the begginging we didnt get along. But after 9/11 he got beat up. So myself, and other kids at my school of all races(Asian,Hindu,White) went over and jumped the dudes who beat him up. Me and him have been buddies ever since. Ive gone with him to Friday prayers and hes gone w.me to Hebrew School.

I also hate ingorant bastards who think the Jews own the banks, Hollywood etc and think were all rich. Yes I have a big nose. I dont give a fuck if I look like a jew.

These people are either: ignorant, have been infuenced by the propaganda crap known as the media and CNN, or have bred it in them since they were born.
The last one makes me particularly sick, as its programmed into them from the start. They never get a chance to see for themselves.

I took African-American Studies for 3 of my 5 years at college (double major :cool: ) and I feel like I should be proud of my ancestors and what they've accomplished. :) American is okay as well. I can't help what happened as far as slaves being separated from their homeland and being brought somewhere strange but I prefer to keep that term until a more suitable and acceptable one is coined. :grey:

If any of you live in Southern california (DMC12, Jay...), you might remember the HUGE riot that happened in Grant High school in Van Nuys. About 500 Armenians ( my race) faught about 500 Mexicans, the reason: 100 different reasons, it's obvious.
That rumble was all over teh news and our school, unfortunatly, is reconised for that rumble.
I went to school that day, but in a wierd coincedence, I was suspended from school for a false threat (it was my word agianst his, I lost because he was a schoolboy ):D
Since tht day, there have been numerous fights between Armenians and Mexicans. I don't find the fight, the fight finds me, even thugh I like fighting (in a professional manner:boxing gloves).

One thing I do know is that we all harbor, despite the best of intentions, certain prejudices about ethnic groups and minorities. One of the things I am aware about is that I do hold some of these prejudices which are irrational and naive at best.

Being aware that I do hold prejudices however latent means that I am aware I have to make a conscious decision. Am I being fair, would this decision be different if for instance this person were a WASP or a minority? I was raised with the noble but perhaps naive notion that it really didn't matter what skin color you are - the opportunities are fairly even and life is pretty much what you make of it.

And although I was fortunate to have been pretty successful on the benchmarks that I set for myself - coming from immigrant stock to being a professional and a manager and enjoying the lifestyle that I aspired to - I also realise it ain't always been easy and that it is even harder for some folk.

Actually I have a non-european ethnic background and although my unbringing was a melding of kiwi and a foreign culture, I view myself as just another kiwi who happens to have a different colored skin albeit with a slightly Australian accent when drunk.

There are times where I have to put up with prejudiced attitudes about a pile of things - but for the most part people accept me for being who I am. I've worked with some rednecks, some die-hard old bastards who'd prefer nothing less than repatriating whole families to 'where they belong' but as hardened as their attitudes may be - I grown harder still and I won't stand it for it in my workplace.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm the first to defend that right but one thing I do stand for is that a workplace is somewhere where my people should feel safe and not be intimidated. Your own viewpoints are something you are entitled to hold but not at the expense of the wellbeing of the folk you work with - and believe me, those that choose to thwart that have encountered some swift and strong disciplinary action.

ya me too. in my high school the caf is like the world. african americans sit in one side, asian's sit on one side, russians god knows where they hang out, germans sit in the back of the caf. i sit outside of the caf ( we have 1 main caf, and outside is 2 big rooms ) where normal non rasist people sit!

I was born in Puerto Rico, lived there for one year
My father was in the military and we moved around a lot. I have lived in Texas, Germany and alabama. My parents are puerto rican, they would always speak spanish when they wanted to say something between themselves(i found that really cool). Ever since I was small I always considered myself one of the crowd, most of my friends were white and I only had 2 black friends(really cool too, miss them a lot). The point is, most of the kids and teachers would always point out to me that i was different just because I spoke another language. I didn't really know much about my culture until I moved back here(to Puerto Rico). It was here that I fully realized my culture and am damn proud to be Puerto Rican, I speak both english and spanish fluently, but what bothered me when i look back when I was a kid is the fact that people would always tell me I was different. I thought it was normal for people to know different languages but in my little boy innocence i was wrong...but hey, there will always be discrimination everywhere whether we like it or not.
And now to end this post with a quote we Puerto Ricans always say:

I'm sick racism too. People use it all the time, usually to whine! Everything bad happens to them because they are Mexican or Asian or "African American" and there are all those bad racists out there.

Sadly enough, they do have some reason (I can't tell you the last time I ever saw the police in my town pull over somebody who wasn't hispanic)
But most of the time it's just them whining about how it's everybody else's fault because they are racist, and when they have that mindset, it is them who are perpetuating racism.

When I was very young I lived in North Carolina, and many of my friends, including my best friend were black, or colored, or "African American" or whichever you prefer. They were really great freinds.
When my family moved to Colorado, I didn't have any friends of color anymore, because most of them out here were being pretend thugs, and because I was white I couldn't have anything to do with them. I hope that as they got older they got in touch with reality.

There are several issues I would like to comment on...
1. Blacks who hate me or any other whites because we oppress their people. The ones who bring everything back to the slave days. Now, I'm not racist, I've dated people of varying races, but I've met some very racist blacks who give their people a bad name. I did not bring your grandmother or whatever over to be a slave. Maybe my grandpa did, but that's not me. This is one of those "Sins of the father" things. Don't hate me because of somthing that I never did, never would have done.

2. Yes, I do get myself into trouble. I have a habit of staring, at everyone. First because I do a lot of drawing and painting. I also grew up in a small town white community, and I had rarely seen other races until after I hit junior high/high school. I don't stare to offend, I stare because there is an inherent beauty in all of the races. I find myself sitting around looking at the people I work with, and think abouot what characteristic it is that gives that person their beauty. Some of the ones I find the most beautiful are Asians and Pacific Islanders. There is a "mystery" I guess would be the best way to describe it. Sometimes it just blows my mind that someone can hate someone else for their skin color.

3. I am in the USAF, and I get to travel quite a bit. Meeting Koreans in Korea, I have noticed that they aren't racist at all (there may be the odd exception, possibly more now, because I was over there before all of the North Korea stuff started). I went on a day trip to Seoul while I was there, and managed to get lost while walking around the city. I walked up to a random stranger who could speak maybe 3 words of english, and still managed to get help. If you try to walk up to a random stranger in an american city, you're probably just gonna get shrugged off, or possibly worse.

Racism is so rampant in America, home of the free. It's sickening to think that the "Melting pot", the country supposedly to be free from all of this racism/anti-religious/everything else is in all actuality the worst place for it in my experiences.

i don't have a story i just wanted to say that i'm impressed that most of you are pretty open minded and i wish more people were like you guys. mad respect

just checking in again... wow I can't belive my post has 4 pages worth of replys. I'm also impressed with the large variety of races my post has attracted as well (a 2 for 1 deal... sweet! :D ) I'm also glad to see that I'm not alone, that there are other people (of the majority) out there that recognise that racism is out there, and it is a problem and are out there fighting the problem instead of turing a blind eye and hoping the racism issue will solve it self. I'd have to say that in my younger days of growing up in this small town I was somewhat racist because I was never exposed to anything other than white people who were just like me, so anyone who was different I shyed away from. but ever since I started high school and especially college I've been exposed to many new races and types of people, which is totally cool because most of the people I meet are so much different than me that it's like meeting someone from outer space, and it's so awesome some of the really cool people that are out there that I've gotten to meet. it's too bad lots of people never give someone a chance just because they don't look like them, and thats really sad.
