hi there i was thinking about getting an aem filter cause i need that carb sticker cause i need to smog my car through the referee and there's no way to fit that stupid stock box in my car anymore but i dont know wich aem filter i should get, either the cold air, short ram, and for what model? the prelude or the hatch? does it matter? ..... if i have that carb sticker, then the referee cant tell me that i have to have the stock box right cause it's 50state legal? is that so? what do you all think?? i also hear that the cold air intakes produce less emissions..... so i'd be more likely to pass..... along with the methanol that's gonna be mixed w/ the gas.... is it true that the cold air intake produces less emissions?

I would think you need to get the 88/91 civic intake. The placement of the intake manifold should still be the same, and the curves will fit around the strut, etc.
Not sure on the emissions though.
Not sure on the emissions though.

I think other companies make CARB exempt intakes for a 4g hatch... you might try DC Sports, Injen. As far as emissions I think it is either the same or more, because you are getting more air, and thus more fuel, into the cylinder, creating a larger combustion, creating more emissions. Just my thoughts though, I am not sure.

FYI, I had a carb legal AEM CAI for an 88 hatch on my car but I failed the visual inspection because according to the rules, if you have an ACURA motor, sensors and everything that's attached to the motor has to come from an ACURA too. I argued a bit because if I put a CAI thats made for an ACURA then it wouldnt fit. Then ref said to just put the stock airbox...that wouldnt work too because the B series throttlebody has a bigger diameter than stock, so it wont fit either. Its like saying to put an ACURA exhaust too which is totally impossible. I ended up getting a GSR stock intake arm and shoving it to the stock airbox.

An H22 in a 4th gen hatch, damn that has to just fly..... id say the 4th gen cai. You may have to fabricate a connector to the T.B. though...

She runs really well, but not as fast as i had expected, but i'm working on her whenever i'm available. And thanx peeps for the info, i guess i'm gonna go see what the ref will have to say about aem's street legal products....
