lotus is a back burner super car..i mean they are among the fastest around and have been for decades..but not alot of people know that..that is why ferrari is so popular because it makes a statement to everyone...lotus is kinda backburner because they dont hvae a big US market...

I saw quite a few nice cars in Phoenix when I was there last year. I am going skiing in America for a week this time, but last time I went to Arizona, to see Phoenix, the chapel in the hill and the Grand Canyon before flying to California and driving to the Tahoe Mountains.

I love Lotus... the forgotten supercar and incredible engineer Colen Chapman was!!!! The Esprit is a great car with a few shortcomings but still excellent and very fast!!.. There will be a replacement...should be in a few years... the elise is coming.. still a year away but coming!!! True the Lotus has lost some of its exposure.. they are extremely rare.. Only about 150 are sold to the U.S each year! I have seen a few older ones on long island but not many newer ones... I want to change that! The Esprit will be around for about a year more...then the elise should be here and then a bit down the road a new Esprit.. and possibly a new 2+2 Lotus car!!.... Keep the faith.. Come on Lotus lets get it back!
PS.. I dont know how to get pictures on here!!

I saw a sweet black lotus esprit yesterday (my birthday no less), and I loved it! I don't know anything else about the car, especially the one I saw, but I looked it up and saw that these things are great: relatively cheap and if you can get a nice color, very striking. I loved how low it was and it reminded me of a baby Lamborghini Diablo. I am seriously thinking about getting one in the future.

I didnt know that esprit's were so rare. I would have never thought it constidering that there are a few in winnipeg, a city with no lambos and few ferraris. I have personnaly only seen one, i was driving in the city last year and it sped past me. i quickly changed my mind of going home and followed if for 15 - 20 minutes. It was an old one, not sure what year.
Another one that i know of is right by my best friends house (next block over) i have never seen it, but he's a car nut and would not joke about that.

I have always liked the Esprit. I would snag one in a second if I had that kind of bank. People say they are dated and such but I don't think so...the new V8's are sweet! I saw a black one a few days ago and about smacked into the truck in front of me looking at it.
I think today people are into those round cars, it's the trend (360, 350Z etc..) The lotus just looks evil with it's swooped up front end. For the money it's a serious supercar and I would take it over most (except that CLK-GTR) :)

HAHAH. Thanks. Yeah I did do a 180, didn't I? Made the biggest jump possible really as the Lotus is my dream car and, to me, is in a class all it's own. I ended up selling the 1996 Eclipse GSX but I still have the 1992 Talon Tsi AWD. If you want to see the saga of the buying experience I have that on my site.

You will find most of the details there. Basically I had to drive from NJ to VA for the car, but it was absolutely worth it. It is a 1994 Esprit S4. I paid $29000 for her. She had 54,000 miles and has all of the major maintenance done - clutch, timing belt, HG, tires, front brakes, chargecooler pump, etc. The PO had put close to $11000 in parts and labor into the car over the last year. He bought it a year ago with some problems at a cheap price and addressed them all (not so cheap), but unfortunately had to sell due to a divorce. At first the extent of the maintenance he had to do worried me some, but once I saw the car and did my complete check, all my worries went away. Car runs like a champ and has no real issues. Only thing it needs now is the temp control cable replaced (which I now have so I just have to set time aside to put it in) and get the AC recharged. I changed the rear brakes, have the SS clutch line to put on and just installed the high TQ chip. Car is just amazing. I still cannot believe I own my dream car.

I have a '98 v8 Turbo which I purchased this spring. I have always loved the car, but I NEVER see them here in Philly and have never driven one. I bought mine from a doctor in TX sight unseen. I wasn't sure what to expect. It's black with black powder coated wheels and it looks MEAN. I mean it literally looks like an angry car, a very manly, angry car. I couldn't be happier with it. It is amazing to drive and no one else in Philly has one, that I've seen around. 911's are fun, but this car is insane. I briefly had a yellow 348 TS Ferrari this summer for about 4 weeks and it gets more looks than the Esprit, but it feels slow when I get in it after the Lotus. I think that for the money, the power/performance/exotic-ness can't be beat for a V8 Esprit.

Yeah, Esprits are rare on the ground in these parts too. Have never seen another one driving down the road since I've had mine-- about 7 years now.
