I was just wondering if there is any way to know what code the ecu is throwing. On my accord my ecu under the seat has a flashing light that I can count and figure out what the error code. Is that something I can do with my 96 jetta. Plus is there a way to reset the ecu without taking it to the shop. Can I simply disconnect the battery and reconnect it?
Any suggestions
Peace..

To read the ECU codes, you will need a vag-com, or a dealer diagnostics tool.
Ask if someone in your local vw-club have a vag-com that you can borrow.
To reset the ECU, no-one seem to agree on one way of doing it.
Someone just disconnect the battery and reconnects it after a few beers. Others disconnect the battery and starts turning the ignition key on and off, the starts the engine and lets it idle for x minutes. Guess you have to figure that one out for yourself.

Thanks once again Deakins, I really appreciate it.
Peace out...
