I emailed extra help about the problem and got a pretty promt reply, but I dont know if it really means anything.

If the problem is not resolved quickly we will be able to make sure it is followed up, as it came with a refernce number. We will all be able to send them email and use the same refernce number.

A copy of the reply, with my email below:

Subject: DNS Server update

-- Can you please tell me when the xtra DNS server will do its next
update? or if its possible to do some kind of a manual update?

A popular website www.automotiveforums.com recently moved to a new
server and its DNS settings changed. Xtra is so far the only NZ ISP
that has not updated its server, and its proving frustrating for about
20 members of the site.
At the moment we can only get access by useing the IP adress
http://139.81.142.25

A Manual update of the DNS Server with the new settings for
automotiveforums.com would be much apreciated if a general refreash is
not going to happen in the next 12hrs.

Thank you.
Andrew.

Recieved an update from Xtra:

Dear Andrew

Thank you for emailing Xtra.

Normally records are
propagated 24 hours after the change is made but can take up to 72 hours. We
are unable to "manually" remove cached records from our name servers.

If you wish to discuss this further advise them to contact Business Support
directly at 0800 11 61 10.

number will aid us in assisting you.

Unforunalty the bussiness help desk is closed untill Monday (I rang, and got diverted, then told to try again on monday) but Ill give them a ring, despite what it says in the above, according the guy I talked today they can do a manual update, and they can do it over the phone.
Xtra's technical systems may suck, but they customer service staff are pretty on to it.

Is the site accessible through the domain yet?

It literaly just started working 20mins ago. :D

I tried it this morning and nothing happened, then the IP adress stopped working, so I left it for 20mins, came back and here I am.
Even my email is working.

The only thing not working are the Banner adds at the top of the page, and the back button has to cycle through all of the page cannot be displayed errors it shows instead.

oh, and still only some images, it appears images upload before the move do not work, but ones uploaded after the move do???

You da man Mr. Moppie. Good show ol man.

Yep it seems it takes Xtra extra long to get anything done except disconnect you. They seem to be right on time with that every time.

It is not working.

Razor got hold of xtra and did some traces all sort of weird stuff beyond by comp' knowledge, and there is something wrong at your end Igor.

Something about sending the wrong name server information???

Im currently in useing http://139.81.142.25/vbulletin but its a sometimes thing.

Please either check your email for detials from Razor, or fiddle with some setting or something.

From Vince who got it from a tech at xtra, and one other NZ ISP who reported exactly the same problem.
Vince said yesterday he would send you an email with all the exact details in it. Im affraid its tech speak beyond what I can understand.

Its something about the AF server not sending the right information to the name servers around the world. Apprently it's a problem that can only get worse, to the point that eventualy only ppl in the US will have access.

OMG OMG OMG OMG I can post again!!!!!! but still only intermittant.

Igor I have sent you an email at your automotiveforums.com address. I resent it when moppie asked today. If you haven't recieved it please email me directly at razorgtst@xtra.co.nz

I don't understand this techno stuff at all but what was put in the email by the Xtra Buisness tech sounded way important.

I am only too happy to try and assist. If it is not the problem the tech at Xtra has supplied a return email address to see what needs to be done possibly on both ends.

Vince.

Hi all,

Well it is working properly at the mo from Xtra's dial up servers. I am currently at work and the only way to get to here is using the automotiveforums http address instead of the dns ip. All images are work currently also.

Igor not sure if what I sent you helped. If it did I am happy to be of assistance. If not I am sorry to bother you with the information sent.

I would like to thank the AF team(s) for all they have done. Personally I am happy to be back again and with no issues :)
