Flickering Charge light

A little info for everybody. A little while ago my charge light started coming on intermittently. Trouble was it wouldn't stay on so I could troubleshoot it and I didn't want to shotgun it between the ECU, Alternator, and ELD. I kept driving it but in daylight and close to home. I finally got it to stay on for a while and noticed it wasn't charging (meter check....12.8 volts....too low). I popped out the alternator (pain in the ass to remove) and removed the brushes and WOW!!!. They had worn down so far that the part at the base of one brush had machined away a groove in the commutator. Bummer. Alternator is toast....can't change the brushes for a cheap fix. Time to pay the big bucks.

I'll stick with something with a guarantee and I can go to the store and get support thank you .

Besides, I need it quick. It's costing me more than $5 a day extra while I drive my F250 to work. What a gas hog.
