The roadster wheels in chrome would definately look sweet. Does anyone have a clue as to what or how the roadster looks like with its roof on, just curious as to how you can take it off?

That is a beautiful car with beautiful rims. Can you only get a V-10 in those???

I had read somewhere that the Roadter's top would be electronically controlled. Unfortunately, I can'tremember where I read it.

I am not sure I like this model. I am not big on the slanted glass. It makes me feel like you would be driving an old 60 or 70's era Caddy. Without the roof, the lines look strange, almost like a limo. They should really think of redesigning it to be more natural looking like the Diablo roadsters with the sliding top. Even the Diablos lines looked strange with the top on. It kind of had the "lip" at the rear of the roof line with the top in place. I think I would have to stick with the orginial hardtop model.

I would be more excepting if the lines look a little more natual in the way the Modena Spyder. All though I think targe tops such as the NSX, Del Sol, Supra offer the best of both worlds (ie functionality, protection, light weight and look). I have never been a big fan of convertible cars. The 360 in my opinion looks the most natural as a topless performance auto. I would rarely choose a convertible model over a hard top version of the same car (ie M3 vs. M3 topless or 550 vs. 550 topless)

Just an opinion.

I have the same tastes as you. The 360 Spyder and the Lamborghini '99 roadsters are the best looking convertibles. I think most coupes look better than their convertible counterparts. In fact, I think I would go for the Modena before the Spyder too, even thought the Spyder does look nice. The convertible car that looks the best with the top on is the Lamborghini roadsters with the hard top. Soft tops just do not look so good when they are up.

Oh yeah, I can't forget the convertible F50 kicks ass too!

Doucette . . . No doubt a can't agree with you more. I would indeed take the 360 Modena over the Spyder if I had the choice. I love a hardtop covert. such as the F50 and the Diablo roadsters.

By the way were all the F50 removable hard tops (except for the 3 GT's). I have never had the opportunity to see anyone take the top off, so I never knew how exactly they worked. I thought the F50 came in two different models coupe and targa, I guess I was wrong. Do you just have to store the top in your garage when it is off????

Actually, I'm not sure at all about the F50 now that you mention it. I always thought that it never had a soft top at all. What 3 GTs are you talking about?

There are three privately owned F50 GT's. Actually one was built to race in the 24 hrs of Le man but never ran due to the rules put in place at the time. Ferrari felt cheated so never ran the car. Anyway the car was sold and two more were built from left over parts. There is a video that I have of Doug Hayashi who races a NSX and owns a 355 running at a track day with one of these F50's and an F40. The sound is amazing, it is shot from on board Dougs 355. The damn thing sounds just like a formula 1 car. I believe it is rated at 700 or 750bhp and is supper light. I will find the link and post it. it is a must see video, it is like 3 minutes long. Hope this helps.

Cool vids, so it's called the F50 GTI?

raven1822
01-16-2003, 02:07 PM
Yeah, I belief it was given this name because it would have raced in at what the time was the GT1 class. The ACO (I think) changed the rules and allowed none production based cars to race in the class (ie. Toyota GT1, Porsche GT1, Lotus Elise GT). This ticked Ferrari off, who actually had were anticipating racing this car which is more or less a tuned F50. They then pulled out.
