Strut and Sway Bars...

What is which and goes where?
Which ones can fit on the P10?

Strut bars normally go on the top of the strut/shock towers, and sway bars are on the bottom of the suspension. they are a relatively thick bar (16 and 19mm i think?) and they connect one side of the suspension to the other, to help reduce roll. Strut bars stiffen up the chassis, where sway bars help flat cornering and reduce roll. Right guys?

Struts go in the back, shocks go in the front. Both fall under the term damper. They control the oscillations of the springs in the suspension.

Sway bars are connected to either side of the suspension and tied to the chassis. They limit the amount of body roll and speed up the weight transfer during cornering. They keep the inside and outside tires doing closer to equal work.

One more quick Q..


For a 94' P10, we only need..
1 x Strut Bar ? (tower in the main engine compartment)... i don't think the back needs one ;) )
2 x Sway Bars? (bottoms, front and rear)

Whats a good brand to buy? I've only seen Stillen make one... but then again, its stillen....

Well.....

A front STB is a good idea. A rear one would be good too if one were readily available (it's not). A front control arm brace would be great too. On the SE-R it is supposed to be much more effective than the STB.

Sway bars...... Well, N-Tech had plans to make some, but Ken is busy with other things these days, so I may try to adapt bars for an SE-R. Right now I know of no one making them for the P10. I've seen JDM bars, but they have the same zillion bends of the stock bars (fewer bends would be better).

Still though... where am i gonna get it :P

A front control arm brace would be great too. On the SE-R it is supposed to be much more effective than the STB.

The only thing you wil get at Stillen is the STB. They have none of the other parts you are looking for and if they tell you they do, they are either lying or don't know what they carry.

The FCAB attaches between the front lower control arms, underneath the center support.

I've seen JDM bars, but they have the same zillion bends of the stock bars (fewer bends would be better).

How would fewer bends be better? Is this just based on personal preference, or actual perfomance knowledge? Will a 22mm bar with fewer bends be stiffer than a 22mm bar with stock OE bends? I think not. The only positive that I can see with having fewer bends in a sway bar would be a slight weight savings (maybe?). In my opinion their is nothing wrong with having sway bars that have the exact same bends as the OE ones they are replacing.

Now for the shameless plug, I have new Goldrush swaybars for the P10. Yes they are bent like OE ones, front 22mm rear 19mm.... E-mail me for pics.

umm...why not get it from me? I have Cusco front strut bar, GAB or Cusco lower tie bar. For sway bar, no one makes them here in the US. I can get the JDM Tanabe sway bar if you wanna wait.

I am not an engineer and don't have the technical explanation. Each bend in the bar will alter the response of the bar. Ken Nord of N-Tech is a good friend of mine. He not only designed the N-Tech adjustable swaybars for the SE-R, but he also designed the Suspension Techniques swaybars for the SE-R. A while back he mentioned to me about the need to minimize the bends on the bar. Ken is an engineer and a damned fine suspension engineer.

So, no, I don't personally have the technical explanation of why this is important, but I certainly trust Ken's judgement on anything to do with suspension.

I have to get a hold of Ken for other reasons so I will ask him this question and post his response. If I misunderstood him, I'll post that too, but I'm pretty confident that the fewer bends the better.

Is the cusco bar for the P10, or P11? Cause i've asked about it at a couple shops, and no one seems to be able to come up with a part number for a p10 stb. What else can you get for stbs, cause i'm in need of one, but i really don't want to spend 175+ for the Stillen bar.

i am waiting for my IMPUL grill as well....takes so damn loooooong!!!
Cusco does have front strut bar for P10...it's $165 though.

Did I read a thread somewhere about someone installing SE-R sway bars on the G20??... was it a P10 or P11?
