Lancer vs. Se-r vspec

hey, i'm in the market for a new car, i want to buy a vspec or a lancer, reason i'm saying lancer is because of what i herd about the jap version. i'm used to my 5.0 mustang, but i blew the tranny :( i don't know if i should get the lancer and mod it, or to get the vspec and put turbo on it, either way, i'm going to add turbo to both cars. just i herd that the lancer jap version could run with a skyline, i don't know what to do. will the lancer be alot easier to mod?

I am going to move this to car comparisons. You may get better feedback there.

the Lancer that we are getting, is a watered down version of the EVO that you are thinking of. The one we will get would have a very tough time even thinking of running with a Skyline.

Lancer - 120hp
Spec-V(pronounced 5) - 180hp

Lancer - too boxy
Spec-V - baby skyline styling

Lancer - 15" OZ wheels
Spec-V - 17" Enkei's

Lancer - 5-speed
Spec-V - 6-speed

Lancer - OEM stereo
Spec-V - 270W Rockford Fosgate system

Spec-V for me!!! but their is supposed to be a Lancer EVO coming, but that'll be like a year or 2 from now, it'll be a stripped down version of course and plan on the price tag to be around 25K or so to compete with the current WRX.

The one America gets is call Lancer. The one you heard about is Lancer Evolution. They are two very different cars. Anyways Spec V is overhyped.

Spec-V overhyped??? no way, no one around here even knows about it coming out, overhyped cars are the RSX's and such.

Why don't you visit the board I moderate then? There has been heated discussion about Sentra SE-R Spec V since march.

Anyways I moderate on Superhonda.

Lancers really suck, they're comparable to civics... the SE-R is much better for performance

The Lancer EVO is sweet though, it's probably one of the best cars you could buy, but it's not out in the U.S. yet and it'll cost a LOT more than an SE-R (but it's worth it, the EVO does 0-60mph in less than 5seconds)

like somebody else said, the mitsu Lancer and the Lancer EVO are TOTALLY different... they hardly share any parts, but they look almost the same

My brother had a 92 bluebird with the SR20DET in it 4WD. It was damn fast. EVO and WRX eater!

yep..the new lancer Evo is coming to the US..the 200 something HP...gonna be a cool car....but the skyline GTR R35 is gonna be out hea too...but as an Infiniti X35...

You mean 265hp? Anyways new Infiniti G35 is a Skyline not Skyline GT-R35.

GT-R35 is just in it's concept form right now. There is a press release in Nissannews.com

well...
the spec v is overhyped by nissan... they claimed 180hp, but scc only got 140 at the wheels... that doesnt work out...
then they moved it to 175, but still got 140 at the wheels... that is what overhyped means...

i would take the spec v, but only if the evo wasnt coming... which it is..

and you said you would put turbos on either car, but if you are talking about an evo, it has one...

so for me, it is either the evo or wrx sti...
or is300 w/ a stick and a turbo shoved in there...

oh the skyline coming to the US makes me want to cry. When I heard it was coming I was thinking hell yeah now people will realize where the impalas tail lights came from. But No, they had to ditch the traditional taillights.

it's probably gunna be a totally different car, so we won't even feel like we got a skyline

They didn't ditch it they made it special only on GT-R.

Still I am in Indiana going to Purdue, and Indiana is a Chevy state b/c of all of the manufacturing plants, well actually GM. And I hear people talking about how pretty the Impala is while I am walking around campus fairly frequently, well mainly on game days, when there are older people around tailgaiting. I only wish everyone knew where those tail lights came from. At least I think they came from the Skyline.

They might have thought the Impala tail lights came from Corvette.
