well guys....can anyone tell me wot sort of gains I would get if I changed the stock manifold on my UK spec P11GT..........and two if the manifold I'm thinking of would even fit........ manifold would be off a BTCC primera, well made for one anyway.....plus I assume the header would need to be changed..........

The manifolds from a BTCC SR20 will not fit a production SR20. They extensively modify the head, including turing it around so the intake points towards the front and the exhaust points towards the back.

If it is any help Gurpal, Kevin (P11GT on these boards) has just swapped his GT spec exhaust manifold for a Hotshot one, and has reported nice increases from his butt dyno :)

This guy is talking out is blow hole.

No bloody way it's going to give you 20 hp. Even the best headers (extractors) on the market give that much hp. If it's a Primera GT manifold (not BTCC) it will probably give you about 5-6 hp.

Hey, im here.:D

The Hotshot does give a good increase in torque across the rev range, but until i get it dyno'd, i cant show you the difference. Be patient, a graoh ccan say more than a thousand words.

You *might* get 10bhp, but even that sounds a little optimistic to me.... I think that 5-6bhp is a more likely figure

Anthony I can't get onto MSN, can you? I am going to collect my GT bits today from the post office, so I should have them fitted within a week. A full reveiw will be included on Primeraweb.co.uk plus I am doing a b4 and after videod 0-60 run of my car so we can see the differnce between the Sri spec and GT spec engine.

Neil

P.S Anthony did you manage to get hold of those p/w, usernames?

ok latest on this....talked again to the guy selling the manifold, apperantly the manifold is for the '95 spec BTCC primera, which allegedly accordiing to him had the engine facing the same direction as the production SR20......apparently Nissan changed the engines round after 96...he also mentioned that it would be a better fit on the SR20DETs...I'm waiting for him to send pics of it..........

IF it is a genuine BTCC manifold and IF it does fit on your car, chances are it was developed to work with very wild cams in a very narrow rpm range. It would probably hurt performance in a car with street cams.

Not only that, but I doubt it would fit a road car. Unless it was forbidden in 95 (I doubt it) the engine was probably relocated in the chassis. They are usually laid down a bit to lower the CG.

That said, buying race car parts for a road car sometimes works out OK, but usually it sucks. Part of the reason is like T4 said above. Race car parts are produced to work in a very specific, limited environment. There are often road car parts that are very similar, but usually not the same.

For example:

Racing brakes on a road car is a disaster waiting to happen
Cams for a race car will totally suck on a road car
Ditto for exhaust
Suspensions for a race car usually just won't work on a road car since race cars usually have a much more limited range of travel

I have to agree with T4

The BTCC manifolds are NOT build to fit our exhaust and engine setup, also because many of them is handbuild to fit exactly THAT and ONLY THAT engineroom it is build for! :)

well in his defence the guy did say I would have to take it to an exhaust shop to get it modded to fit.......so I'm thinking not worth the hassle as it around £400 for the manifold then don't know how much extra the Exhaust shop would charge...so easier to go for HS one........:sun: :D

If you like, you can get it anyway and be a 400pound guinea pig:p :p . If it gets you 20 hp over a GT manifold then it ain't a bad upgrade. If it doesn't work then take your wallet when you go for a drive and your vehicle will definitely be 400pounds lighter:p :D :)
