Yes..so true
The ultimate road hazard is a 20-something asian girl driving a Landcruiser 100VX in traffic, thats a goddam lethal weapon. They havent a clue where they are going, they dont look in the mirrors, and when they do its not much help cuz they seem to fail to realise their Landcruiser is 5 times longer and 3 times wider than the Toyota Starlet she learnt to drive on. They also keep religiosly to the 50km/h speed limit cause theyre too scared to go any faster. Welcome to Auckland rush-hour traffic :D

gang$tarr
10-01-2001, 11:47 PM
and to add to that... they drive 10km/h under the speedlimit in the passing line, that's the thing that pisses me off the most..... if you're going slow STAY TO THE FUCKING RIGHT!!!

Did you know that gas stations will charge you $150 to reattach the pump!

My wife knows that... LOL!!! She got out of paying, though... :D

What's the deal with all the ripped-out petrol hoses??Dont you guys have station attendants in America that are supposed to take them out for you?

You can pump the gas for yourself if you so choose.....

I may have a lead foot, and I may do 10 miles per hour above the posted speed limit, but I'm very careful NOT to cut people off or drift about the road... Now that I drive a standard, the cell phone waits until redlights/stop signs... and shopping does not run my life even if I do enjoy spending a little money (on my car) now and then! :flipa:

As for the idiots who drive around doing 10 under in the passing lane... I've seen more than my share of what I've entitled as the "worst driver ever" as follows: Cadillac (any will do), with a gold AAA sticker on the bumper (showing 50 years of AAA loyalty--and their age), and either baseball caps or tissue boxes in the rear "window ledge"... You know who I mean
Additionally, Pennsylvania, for all their terrible roads, did pass a great law saying that if you are caught in the passing lane for 3 miles and have not passed anyone in that 3 mile stretch, you will be ticketed and fined. Good idea, but proving much harder to enforce than imagined!

I just had to vent that little bit. :)

You guys should gather up all the blue-haired passing lane blockers and send them to Russia for a 1 month long lesson in highway driving. Back there people dont muck around, and it doesnt matter how fast youre going either. If youre doing 120k in the fast lane and a Mercedes/Audi/anything approaches you quickly from behind at something like 150k you get 10 seconds or so to respond to the high beam flash and get the heck out of the way, after which you either get a gentle push to wake you up or they will overtake and slam on the brakes, and you better hope your brakes are as good as theirs (guess how much a Merc W140 rear bumper costs).

Do you know this from experiance? :hehe:

Do you know this from experience
No:D I was smart enough to give way, and it does actually pay, cause suppose youre driving a Lada 2109 (My first car:finger: ) at 140k, which is about as fast as it could go. You catch up to a guy and flash at him to make him clear the lane. Now nobody is scared of a Lada, if he chooses to be an a$$hole he'll just stay where he is and I'll have to go around. But when you see A W140 Merc you just move over, wait till he passes and then go behind him...He'll clear up the road for you;) You just have to make sure you can keep up:) Of course if you are really in a hurry you can weave thru traffic but that requires concentration, especially in winter when the road is covered with snow and ice and visibility is close to zero.

also what i've noticed is that police fuckin do this too.... well not neccesarily under the speed limit... but the road is TOTALLY clear ahead of him, no cars in sight and the cop car is casually driving in the left most lane.... most drivers here are retarded :)

In some European countries thats used instead of the high beam flash to ask people to move out of the way... But since it was in USA it probly wasnt that, just an old woman who forgot to switch her indicator off

old people seem to think they're king of the road too.... not using turn signals, etc.
and when they cut you off and almost hit you, they think it's your fault

Some people here blink their left signal (when in the left lane) to get people in front of them to move over...

Actually, it's more likely to be done when you're driving on a 2-lane road, and a faster car approaches you from behind, and you want to courteously let it through, you turn you right turn signal on, move to the right, and when the car behind you starts overtaking, lift off the gas pedal a bit. After that the person who overtook you might flash emergency lights a couple of times to say "thank you". That's courteous yurp for you :)

Especialy when there in the far right lane on Ti Rakau drive and decide they need to be in the far left lane, wether theres a little Honda civic beside the or not!!! Damn im glad my car has good brakes.

I have to drive through East Auckland, and then fight all the remuera house wifes dropping thier private school kids off to get to Uni. Its a rather scary drive.

Ah yes. The infamous Remuera housewife, how could I forget. A showcase for the fact that women are better at doing many things at once than men. This one manages to be packing her 4 kids lunches, changing her CD, lighting up her cigarette, putting on makeup, and discussing plans for lunch on the cellphone(without a handsfree kit) simoultaneously while piloting the Ford Explorer (aka Remuera wagon) through narrow, winding streets of Remuera. Needless to say sometimes they forget their priorities and the Ford is left to decide it's own course of direction, which is often contrary to what the road markings advise, and it drifts into the opposite lane to the shock of the innocent and unsuspecting driver there. They also seem to misunderstand the whole concept of traffic lights and the fact that when you see yellow that means stop, not accelerate straight ahead, especially when the car in front is clearly slowing down for the yellow light (which by now has turned to red). However when it turns to green they wait until at least 3 other cars from behind sound their horn, and only then do they get going

I can see where that would stress U out! All I know is that if someone came up behind me flashing their lights, I'm hittin the gas!! I've heard too many war stories of that headlight flashing thing!!

i know that, i'm not an idiot... re-read the post he said signalling people in front of them, not behind them

unless i misunderstood that, but he said when you're driving up to somebody, you put your signal on, to tell the person ahead of you to moveover

not the other way around, you being the slow person signalling for someone to pass

unless i misunderstood that

HEEP explain!!

I meant:

I pull up behind someone going slow in the fast lane, and I blink my left signal to tell them to move over.

But Seraph has a point that was well taken by me. :D

That's why you flash it irregularly so people know it's just not on. It works about as often as highbeams do.
