why would anyone in australia want to buy an astra?

when the like's of nissan skyline's and mitzy EVO's are so damn cheap to buy and tune their, :O

I just bought an Astra and I'm in Australia. How many Skylines do you see though....100s. Very quick Astras? My SRi Turbo, does nicely. Any other astra owners out there?

Yeh, I'm in Oz too and I just bought a SRI Turbo. Have moded the ECU (PowerChip Australia) up to 171KW (on 98 RON fuel). Couple of other small mods (performance oil and air filters etc.).

This car is a little rocket. OK, the 0-100KM suffers a little (about 6.3 sec with mod) because it is FWD but out on the highway its fantastic. It has the flatest torque curve of just about any turboed car on the planet and the fuel economy is unreal if you want to pixy foot the thing.

Top speed of 240Kph standard (more with ecu mod). Blew away a Falcon XR6 on the highway the other day.... these cars are sheep in wolf's clothing... Love em!

Yep, i own an Astra SRi, very cool car though not turbo. No mods just wheels and springs, but looking to upgrade air intake and ecu. Groover, who modded your ecu? wot it cost?
Also do you guys have traction control? Cos i would like to piss it off.

My traction control is switchable (so no problem there). ECU mods were by PowerChip. I wouldn't bother with an ECU upgrade unless you have a turbo engine (there is not enough of a gaine to justify the cost). Don't wast your mony on a K7N eiar filter either. Stick to the genuine one (it is just as good).

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO LOCATE THE SPARKPLUGS IN THE ASTRA SRI??

How you doen? I am from Australia and picking up my Black 2004 Astra SRI Turbo on Wednesday. I am excited and got more excited when you mentioned the increase of KW. Can you tell me how much it costed?

Hi everyone out there. Im a proud owner of two Astras, one Astra SRi no-turbo and a Astra Turbo Convertible. Both modded with Powerchip ECU. The Astra Sri non-turbo is heaps more quicker than when it was stock after putting in the ECU and a twin Jspeed sports exhaust. Of course it is no match for the Astra Turbo which is very quick. I dragged a s15 200sx one night and kicked him twice. It all depends on the turbo if it behaves with nice cold air temperature and no lag.

Stock Sri....... recently put a k&n pod on it... sounds better and the improvement was unbelievable..... now I want an axhaust to match. Any ideas?

Located under the plastic engine covers. There are ignition coil packs on top of each spark plug.

Traded my SRI Turbo in nearly one year ago now.
