A fun Day at the Drags

Well it has been a year since I have been down there and the first time in the GTR. The Silvia club put on a fun day at our local drag strip. Only they booked it under the "medium performance" or better put nothing under 13.0 clause. This gave them the track at a very reduced rate.

Well it rained pretty good during the night an as usual the track was like snot! All the 4wd cars we launching sideways, at least those with any sort of grunt to them. 8 times I actually came off the line completely crossed up, hehe fun time me thinks.

Just on lunch break big phil the prez of the Silvia club decided to entertain the crowd by having two GTR's run in two drive. Myself and a mate. So I figured what the heck and smoked the bags big time.

There is a GTR in there somewhere

And here is what I left. :D

my best time was a paultry 12.8 @ 110.7 mph. The top time was my mates GTR at 11.96 @ 116.88 mph. He normally runs quicker but as mentioned the track was greasy and by time it came around the temps were extremely hot. Not a good combination.
We had fun and that is what it is all about.

there is another post with more pics of the day in Offtopic in the "lets see your burnout pics" thread.

Cheers Tazdev for the pics.:D

Hahahaha I know good aye :D The organizer thought it would be interesting and a crowd fav to see two GTR's line up in 2wd, both over the 400hp mark and put on a show. The other GTR decided not to smoke the bags up as hard as I did but hell I live for that. Love to put on a show when I can. The marks would have been just over 50 meters long which was all good. I could hear the crowd going nuts so did what i could to entertain.

It's good to see some things are common to all areas... There you are on the other side of the world, but still love to smoke em :hehehe:

I couldn't agree more. Nothing like leaving 30+ feet of scratch.

TatII I have been a bit busy lately but now finding more time to visit this great place. How have you been?

cheers guys, in my car club I am sorta known for tearing up street rubber when I get the chance. Needless to say I have left my mark(s) in quite a few places including the tyre shop. The owner oddly enough encourages it. Guess he loves to see us kill nearly a $1,000 in new tyres so he can sell more. Currently I have the longest burnout in his carpark. It stretches from one end to the other. Litterally just over 210 feet. I did that in my Skyline GTS-t which was pumping nearly the power of the GTR and a heck of a lot lighter.

Next time I get some more pics I will post them up :)

i think the owner's encouragment is definitly for you to come back to get more tires from him. anyways my cars been doin really well, and i just upgraded from a c's short shifter to a B & M and the difference is hugh. i can even feel a shorter throw over my old short shifter.

Tat someone got a great shot of the tail end of that huge burnout I did and also one of the hell launches when I managed a 12.8 pass. Too bad about a split second later the rears lost traction haha

Huge burnout

Sounds like your car is going well :) We are hoping to get not only a few M3's but some M5's at the SDU drags. Should make for an interesting day. By that time it will be pretty unfair as I should be in the low 12's.

Nice! Damn son, you need a second job just to support your tire habbit!

Hahah well I don't drive the GTR in 2wd normally so smoking 'em up like that doesn't happen. On my previous Skyline I went through three sets of rear tyres in 7 months

The current tyres on the GTR are an extrememly hard compound and suprisingly it did not do too much damage to them an i had very little rubber in the wheel arches and on the rear quarter pannels.

so razor you did that 12.8 on 2WD mode? so technically speaking, if you were still in 4WD you would be pulling lower numbers right?

RazorGTR

No Tat the 12.8 was in 4wd. The tyres just would not hold when the car hit boost. I would ventrue to say my 60' times were like 2.1 sec. I would rather not say what I did in 2wd as I got wheel spin through 3 gears. I was still losing traction at over 120km's. When I shifted into 3rd it broke the rears free again for a short bit. Not just chirpping them.

Damn! Those are some nice marks... Razor.. do you just hit a button, and the 4wd turns on and off or what?

RazorGTR

No actually I had to pull the 4wd fuse out so the entire run from the burnout was in 2wd. Some guys put a switch in their GTR's so they can heat the rears up then switch back to 4wd.
The only draw back is you have to be completely stopped in order for the car to return to 4wd.
