I am restoring a 1967 Mustang and have decided to swap the 289 and replace it with a 429.
Are there any pitfalls I should look out for?
Thanks,

It will fit, if a FE engine which is wider can be put into a 67 then a 429 which is taller but not wider will definetly fit.

I put a 1970 thunderjet 429 in my 1968 j-code back in 1975. Of course in 1975 a 68 f/b was $700.00. I also ran a shaker with shelby upper and lower scoops. It fit fairly easy with a tap or 2 on the firewall with a sledge. I would not recomend doing it now unless the car is not orginal. There are kits out there to drop a 429/460 right in, you have to run an electric fan. Try a company called Crites restroration or something like that, I not sure of the spelling they are big on galaxie parts. Or ppf or ffp the are big on specialty header for ford I think the offer a kit. Buy the way it ran better than a FE powered 68. (Before anyone complains I oun a 67 FE, And have driven them both for years.)
