I think that new Durango looks pretty cool. It looks like Godzilla compared to other cars and the headlights and freakin humungous! But overall I like it. It's a pretty cool car. I hope it's powerful as it looks.

Seriously, is it going to have a Hemi? I heard something about the Dakota getting a Hemi, so I was wondering if Dodge will be placing it in more vehicles. :iceslolan

But the question for us R/T owners is "Will there be a Hemi R/T version out" It does not say anything about a R/T model from the www.Dodge.com website. One thing I hate more than anything on the 04 Durango is the wimpy family looking instrumentation panel! That Speedo is bigger than the whole instrumentation panel! Looks like they did that on purpose for the blind people or something. Not very sports appealing.

First ride was a short one but initial impression was a good one. Truck had the new hemi engine and you could feel the increased power but its still not a "Viper". More room inside overall for everybody and the A/C has been improved and was putting out 50 degree air with the truck at idle. Will be doing some more demo's before I commit. Also, we drove the top of the line model with the rear wheel drive only.

At first I thought it was an ugly girly truck, but it's growing on me. My last one got totaled by an 83 yr old woman. I saw the 04 in a cool blueish charcoal color. It was vrrry parrrty ! I likey likey now. Maybe I'll pick one up this summer. I want to see if they make any changes or hear any bad things first

IMO it look's like a RAM 1500 & PT cruiser had a threesome with a Caravan & that popped out.
I like the first gen. But thats just not doing it for me.

Just bought one, hemi, Limited, all the bells and whistles. Only problem is now I have the modding itch, guess I will have to wait about a year until headers, induction etc.. come out. 2 year old boy, 1500 miles to go and a dvd system. I don't know how I lived with out it.

Luiss1,
You'll look like a Redwood tree on a matchbox car. :)
Make sure you get a sunroof, so you don't get a crick in your back!
I'm just kidding, I'm sure the thing will accomodate a 6'3" person, but I don't know how comfortable it'll be!

I've had a ton of compliments on my '04 Durango since I bought it two months ago, but have had far too many problems with it. The A/C has gone out twice, the rear A/C vents blow closed (not very helpful in keeping my four kids cool in the Arizona heat), the bumper covers are lose as hell (getting those fixed Monday), the transmission doesn't always like to shift when it's supposed to (dealer looked at it and noticed the same thing, but since the sytem didn't kick out a code for them they told me to bring it back if it did it again. What wonderful mechanics. "Yeah we can see there's a problem, but since the computer isn't telling us what to fix, you're going to have to bring it in when it happens again". Tonight the damn thing wouldn't even start. The roadside assistance guy told me my alternator is gone and that Dodge put cheap alternators in the new Durango's. So if you want to throw away a heap of money, go out and get yourself a new Durango. I sure as hell won't recommend one to anybody.

They lost the cool look of the gen 1 durango with this style change. I think it looks like crap, wouldn't own one if it was given to me free......yuk! What were they thinking?
