Hi
I am looking to buy a Merc 190E in the next few months.
I have done a fair bit of research on them and want to know if there are any problems with them that I may need a bit of advice to find.
I know that the Mk 2 (facelifted) version is supposed to be better than the early ones.
Does anyone know when they facelifted the 190 I cant seem to find a date. And does anyone know why the later ones are better??
I am looking for a 190E 2.0 automatic has anyone any experience of that model.
Is the 1.8 that under powered? Ive seen people refer to the 2.0 as underpowered too so ????
Thanks for any help.

I had an 84 non-cat 2.0 (122hp) powered automatic. Everything was perfect. More than enough power due to the low weight of the early cars with few options. I heard that the catalytic converter models had about 5hp less.
If you plan on doing any towing, you may want to consider a 2.3L.
As for quality, I believe they're all very good.
