H22a swap

How much would it cost to swap an H22a in a gen 4 accord (parts and labor total)

It depends on where you live. If you live in SoCal where there are tons of places to swap an engine, it will be cheaper than the middle of North Dakota.

Im in the Atlanta area so im sure i can find someone. I want to do a complete swap including engine and transmission. I only need a broad estimate. Thnx.

a broad estimate is 3-5 grand, depending on how much the labor is, how much you can get the motor for, and what condition everything is in. call some shops and look at prices for parts, then figure out a more accurate esitmate for yourself.

Being in ATL you should be able to get a complete swap and drive out of a garage for right at 3500 G's... I paid 4600 in NC, and that was kinda stiff. We were gonna drive to ATL to have it done, but it was only a 1000 difference, so we figured we would waste that in motels and misc. My advice though would definately be to take an extra bit of money and have some mods put on before the engine gets dropped in the car. New clutch and flywheel, cam gears, crank pulley, things that are kind of a pain to do when the engine is in the car, may easily be done while the whole thing is sitting on the ground. Most places will put some stuff on as a courtesy, like my shop put on my cam gears and pulleys on at no charge.. But whatever you do, shop around, find the best price and try to stick to good reputations, shops that nobody knows anything about are a gamble, either they can be the new secret hot spot that is waiting to be found out, or they simply have no clue and are trying to make a few bucks. Some people say they can swap and engine, and when they start doing it they start screwing shit up, and then your in for trouble. So be careful.. I had to laugh when I saw this. I'm from South Dakota and I still talk to my peeps back there from time to time, and the places that can do this swap are rare and very expensive, one of my boys was quoted 10G for an H22 into an Accord. I was like dude its worth your money to drive somewhere else... Hell 10G? Let me do the swap!! hehehe!

A mechanic whom I was talkin to the other day, said that he'd had someone in a couple weeks ago with an H22a swap. The person was complaining because the car was running like crap. His problem, was that he was running the H22 using the Accord's computer system. If this is indeed a concern when considering a swap, make sure you've got some deep pockets, since it seems a prelude 'puter sys would be needed as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yea it is best to use the H22 ECU, naturally it only makes sense to use it as the H22 is a higher spec'd engine. The Accord ECU will run it to Accord specs. Why even do a swap if your gonna treat the H22 like an F22?. You can get the P13 ECU for the H22 on Ebay usually for around 180 bucks. Don't isolate the ECU as being the sole problem in this foul running Accord, there are also other things to consider. What OBD is the car? What OBD is the engine? There are differences between sensors on these applications. Also the distributor can be a problem, along with the wrong plugs. Or even just something simple wired backwards.. So many possibilities when doing this swap, that yes your pockets should have a little extra in em to cover unforseen expenses.
