Sputtering Civic

Here's one for y'all. Two days ago I got in my 91 hatch, started her up and went to pull out. I found that when I open the throttle more than 1/4 way while under 2000 rpm the engine sputters and power drops by at least half. Once i get up past 2000 rpm the problem is non-exsistant. I've been to lazy to pull the carpet and check my ECU, I'll probably do that tomorrow. Anyway, does anyone want to humor me with any ideas on what this might be?

mine did the exact same thing a while ago, but then i changed my feul filter and spark plugs and now its as good as new. Try that and then see what happens, my filter was plugged full of junk, and i could see why it was stuttering.:rolleyes:

you really should check the ecu codes. otherwise it's just useless suggestions

Ya, I checked the ECU today... No codes (which is unusual because I was getting a fuel injector code before I reset it, that I never got around to taking care of). I'm gonna check my fuel filter and spark plugs today, throw some injector cleaner in before I get gas today, and see what happens from there

IO know its the feul filter or sparks! Turn ur filter upside down in a clear bucket and check the feul. Plus my sparke were relly carboned up. hopoe ya fix it.

Fuel filter is fine, as it turns out my distributer cap is cracked. Just noticed that today, I'm gonna check it out tomorrow when the sun's out.

yea, that is what i was going to say. Mine does that everyonce in awhile, but mainly when I wash the engine cause my dizzy cap has a few minor cracks in it and it gets wet. Need to fix that.
