Hey all I' ve been looking for some quick easy hosre power mods for my 96' Cavy.....Im only 17 so I'm on a pretty tight budget. I have considered CAI, Spark pugs, all out new exhuast system, shift kits and even some certain cheap turbos.
If u guys have any other ideas, or recomned and certain types of these things plz respond.
DID I SCREW UP?!?!?!?!?
See the thing is i some little guy started talking about how his little 80's Ford Mustang (with a 4cyl) could beat my car.....(all stock engine and all) and with my experience with a other ford mustang about the same year and engine sucked and wasnt fast at all! So i said hey some time next year i will race u down at the drag strip by my house that cost like $15 to enter for teens.....and he agreed
well see i already was planning on adding exhuast and CAI. Well turns out this sneaky kid is putting in a 5.0L V-8 into this mustang!!!!! What i wanna know is with some minnor horse power mods(no NOS) like i mentioned would i have a chance at beating him??????

ok well a big diff on a short track is ganna be who has a stick and who has a automatic, also what hes planning to do, and what he will do are 2 diff thrings, but u said u might look into a small turbo well look about spending 2000 bucks atleast on that one, so if u got close to that money u can do some good upgrades, go for a cold air intake, headers, exaust, unorthodox pully, if u really want to beat this guy go all out, take out all the seats, spare tire, anything that adds weight u can add it back in after the race, your advantage is a a old mustang like that is heavy, if he dont replace the motor u will smoke him, but if he does, u got some competition, and u can safly add a 50 shot of nos, for about 600 bucks, and mayby get some new cam shafts, there not to expensive, but with just cold air, exaust and headers u wont notice a big change, not without adding some extra fuel to the mix, you can get a hypertech programmer or chip, to add a lil extra fuel to the mix, and u can always reprogram it later for economey, but adding all the parts to add more air will only have dramatic affects if u add the fuel, just like adding nos, if u ad a lil extra fuel u get more bang for your buck, but just to be safe dont go over 50, even if they say your motor will take 75, better to lose bye a little, and be able to race another day, than to have your only car parked in your driveway for a long time

if u got any seriouse questions email me at [email protected], im familier with v8 ford and chevys i use to race a low 13 camaro i had but now im going with my 2004 cav, your biggest problem will be at the end of the stretch, those 2 cars are like opposites, a cav will accelerate quick, but around the last 2 gears it will not accelerate as fast, where a mustang is heavy and will be slower on the start, it will have te same power gain till overdrive if he allowes it to go into final gear

ive raced one of those 80s, early 90s mustangs 5.0L V8. I believe about 4th gear is when he passed me up. I beat him off the line, and I stayed ahead for awhile, but like you said, last 2 gears really are done wtiht he power and are cruising. My mods are headers, hi flow cat, full exahust, intake, and ive also taken out my spare and back seat. Goodluck against that mustang. Hopefully he'll ad a V6, then you'll smoke him.

hey man if hes droppin a 5.0 in that , hes gonna haul, he'll prolly be runnin 14's. which means u got alota work ahead of u, do full exhaust, header, cat, cat back, cold air, up ur torque, ull smoke him off the line. pulleys and cam work will really help too. fuel rail, throttle body, intake manifold. sparkplugs wires, fuel pumps, injectors, filters. do it all , get all the mods u can afford to beat him.
