hi i have a friend who just got a 97 5th gen and he wants to put a nice quiet but bassy sounding exhuast. i'm not sure where in hte power band you wants more power in but if anyone can tell me the top few exhuast and tell me where in the power band does it gain and where it loses i'm sure he can have a easier time deciding. plus loudness level plays a big part. he wants soemthing stealthy. so thats why i'm askin for links to sites with sound clips of hte main stream exhuast at idle, cruise and under hard aceleration. thank you guys. and by the way i love your cars. preludes are one of hte only hondas i really like. thanks for the help.

the apexi N1, mugen, and greddy evo are good power gainers. being a honda, it'll get most of the gains in the higher rpms, like over 5000rpms.

however, personally i dont' like the sounds. too much buzzing for me. the N1 is pretty damn loud, the evo is almost as loud. i have the thermal research and development cat-back on my lude. typically you won't get as much power gain with it, but it looks and sounds much better in my opinion. besides, hondas don't get much of a gain with just an exhaust anyway. particularly if you're N/A, one exhaust won't differ greatly at all from another as far as gains go. if you're turbo or supercharged on the other hand, that's where it starts to matter.

if your friend is staying N/A, i'd suggest the thermal. or even the mugen, if he can afford it ($975). the thermal has a dual straight tip muffler, almost like stock. the least ricey sound that i've heard on a prelude. the mugen is a single tip, not big. i think you'd like the sound. but the mugen is pricey. i know a site with some sound clips, but i can't remember off the top of my head. if i can find it, you'll be the first to know.

don't get the N1 or evo if he wants something stealthy. i think the most stealth you'll get is from the thermal stealth cat-back system. i got it, and i think your friend will like it.
